QUESTION #1:
I am currently dealing with a condition that my doctor labeled as "acid
reflux" though I don't quite have all of the symptoms I feel this is the
best they can come up with!! Sometimes a pain seems to locate itself in
the right side of my chest, sometimes the left, and sometimes it feels
as though it could be right between my esophagus and diaphragm.
Sometimes I feel pain between my shoulder blades, though I have had some
minor back muscle problems in my life and this may or may not be
related. I could not connect the feeling with any particular food
intake; even water (particularly cold) will evoke these symptoms. I
walk on my treadmill 30 min. 3 times a week and play a vigorous game of
racquetball once a week. I am not one to "pop pills" and as a result I
have been researching various nutritional philosophies and therapies and
am curious what your suggestion would be for alternatives to this
problem?
Nathan
ANSWER:
Thank you for your question Nathan,
With those symptoms it sounds very much like you may have acid reflux
and possibly a hiatus hernia that exacerbates the problem... Taking
their little pills can lead to much larger problems later, so bravo for
recognizing that as not a good thing and I don't know a doctor or
pharmacists who will tell you that?
Nexium, Prilosec, Zantac or any antacid has too many side effects for
me, and it kills the natural flora in your stomach and intestinal system
that is needed for a healthy body. Those possible problems created by
antacids are caused from the lack of acid in the stomach, which is what
antacid type medications stop the body from making... That acid is
necessary in order to digest foods properly thereby leaving people
really malnourished... Also with the intestinal flora imbalanced all
kinds of problems can and usually do occur... It's imperative that you
replace the natural flora by taking probiotics... You will need to take
daily probiotics for weeks to repair what an antacid kills...
It is necessary to consume only small meals since acid reflux could be a
lifelong problem for you. Each attack creates more scar tissue therefore
smaller meals makes those attacks less likely to happen... The acid
burns the throat creating pain that you describe? Never lay down after
eating, for at least a couple of hours, as the reflux can occur... If
you balance your body's minerals I think you will notice a difference in
all areas of your body as well as help minimize damage from stress and
the reflux... Stay away from soda's and other acid type juices between
meals?
You will need to avoid dairy products as they are a number one
instigator of reflux, you can switch dairy to soy products for a healthy
alternative.
By adding balanced minerals, stop dairy products and eat small meals
that could very well eliminate most if not all of your acid reflux
problem. If it doesn't, you will need to add daily digestive enzymes to
help digest your foods properly and will add another element to
preventing reflux.
I and many other alternative health practitioners know that when our
body has a balance of minerals and vitamins our body's will function
more efficiently and will not have the cravings that lead to overeating,
which sets up a situation for acid reflux also creating a large number
of obese and sick people. I believe as does my friend Wayne Garland,
N.D./herbologist, that to be balanced you need the whole 84 minerals and
trace minerals. Our country has known for centuries (since 1936) that
minerals are the crux of the obese and ill population,

problems disappear when people balance their daily minerals and vitamin
intake. I've watched hundreds become healthy and happy with two simple
steps.. Supplementing "Life
Transfusion Ionic Liquid Minerals" and "MegaNutrient
MultiFactor formula"...
The enzymes/probiotic I suggest is "Primal
Defense"...
Good Luck,
Lena
QUESTION #2
Hi, I am fifty years old, I have never been sick other than the
normal colds. I have recently been feeling extremely tired. I have no
energy. I have not had a period for about 1 year now....I desire to
lose weight, and exercise...I just do not have the get up and go. What
can I do??
Thanks,
Marlene
ANSWER:
Thank you for your question Marlene.
Without more information such as; any change in your routine prior to
your fatigue onset, or maybe depressed or stressed more often, blood
pressure fluctuations? any moves or upheaval in family life? weight
gain? dry skin? any new supplements or herbs added lately? list of any
medications that you take regularly? I can only guess at the problem.
At your age and the end of your menses so recently it sounds very much
like a hormone imbalance. Fatigue, insomnia, headaches, hot flashes,
weight gain, mild to moderate depression, dry hair and skin, body odor,
lack of sex drive, and mental confusion (mood swings) come with
menopause for most women. You only mention lack of energy so this will
need to be done in steps to actually identify the problem... Most common
in all of society's fatigue is a simple mineral imbalance and when that
is corrected the energy returns... So my suggestion is to start with 1/2
teaspoon
Life Transfusion Ionic Liquid minerals morning and noon, to balance
your minerals. (If the loss of energy is due to simple depression this
will also help to stop that.) If after a week taking the minerals energy
isn't restored or only partially improved move on to the Second step;
add
Balanced Woman Master Formula (1 capsule three times a day) to
balance your hormones naturally... Together the minerals and balanced
woman herbal formula usually will take care of any hormonal shifts that
create different menopause symptoms in your age group.
If for some reason those two do not solve the problem completely, the
next most likely causation would be the thyroid and/or pancreas and/or
liver struggling and if that is the case you should take a different
approach which we can work on later if these two steps do not correct
the problem. But most often with the addition of the liquid minerals
most problems subside within days or weeks as they help your body's
organs function more normally... I suspect that you have a combination
of mineral imbalance and menopause created fatigue which will require
both the
Balanced Woman formula and
Life Transfusion Ionic liquid minerals to correct the fatigue.
If those steps do not do it you can give me a call and we will work at
it more fully... 928-636-9425 9am - 9pm (MST)

WEB OF LOVE
Listen to how a simple ball of yarn became a web of love for one
classroom of high school students.
Their teacher seated the students in a circle on the carpeted floor. One
member of the group was instructed to toss a ball of yarn to someone
across the circle, holding tightly to one end. The recipient took hold
of the string and listened as the one who tossed it shared something
that she especially liked about him. Keeping hold of the string, he then
tossed the ball across the circle to someone else and affirmed something
positive about her. The ball of yarn was tossed across and around the
circle until everyone had both heard and shared encouragement...and thus
the yarn became a woven web of love and good feelings....
Before they went their separate ways, the teacher took scissors and
snipped through the web. Each person took a piece of yarn away as a
remembrance of the special words they heard. Surprisingly, many of them
wore cherished pieces of yarn around their wrists for days and weeks
afterward.
Every year now, students ask their teacher to end the term with the Web
of Love. It has become an annual tradition in their high school! Which
goes to show how much encouragement means to most people.
Why wait? We can find opportunities to affirm others throughout the
day. Few people grow weary of hearing sincere appreciation and praise.
And each time you give it you help to create an invisible web of love
that can last a lifetime.

FOOD OF THE WEEK

Punica proto-punica aka pomegranate,
Granada (Spanish), Grenade (French).
The pomegranate a native from Iran to the Himalayas
in northern India and cultivated and naturalized over the whole
Mediterranean region since ancient times. It is widely cultivated
throughout India and the drier parts of Southeast Asia, Malaya, East
Indies and tropical Africa. The tree was introduced into California by
Spanish settlers in 1769. Now grown for its fruits mainly in the drier
parts of California and Arizona.
Granted, it is a bit messy and can stain clothes
mercilessly, but the unique sweet taste and health benefits are well
worth it. Recent research to identify foods high in antioxidants have
brought the pomegranate into the forefront of the antioxidants with its
high levels of polyphenols, tannins, and anthocyanins -- all thought to
be important parts of our cancer-prevention arsenal. Food seeds of all
kinds are rich in fiber – including the pomegranate - making for a
healthy intestinal system. "Prostate, breast, and colon cancer rates
are higher in populations consuming relatively large quantities of meat
and lower in populations whose diet is rich in ‘seed foods.’"
Journal of the American Medical Association
The pomegranate tree is a neat, rounded shrub or
small tree that can grow to 20 or 30 ft., but more typically to 12 to
16 ft. in height. Dwarf varieties are also known. The trunk is covered
by a red-brown bark which later becomes gray. Pomegranates are also
long-lived. There are specimens in Europe that are known to be over 200
years of age. The vigor of a pomegranate declines after about 15 years,
however.
The pomegranate fruit is almost a perfect round,
2-1/2 to 5 in. wide fruit with a crowned base known as a calyx. The
tough, leathery skin or rind is typically yellow underneath and overlaid
with light or deep pink or rich red. The inner fruits are separated by
membranous walls and white, spongy, bitter tissue into compartments
packed with sacs filled with sweetly acid, juicy, red, pink or whitish
pulp. In each sac there is one angular, soft or hard seed. The
pomegranate may begin to bear in 1 year after planting out, but 2-1/2 to
3 years is more common. Under suitable conditions the fruit should
mature some 5 to 7 months after bloom.
Pomegranate is a delicious fruit, which has many
potential beneficial compounds. Pomegranate has substances, such as
polyphenols, that have antioxidant, anti-viral, and anti-tumor activity.
Rich in the minerals Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium,
Sodium, Zinc, Copper and Selenium along with Vitamins C, B-6, B-12, A,
E, total ascorbic acid Thiamin Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid,
Folate and Folic acid making for a very healthy food! Pomegranate may
also be helpful in maintaining healthy cholesterol and triglyceride
levels.
Researchers from the University of Wisconsin
reported that a pomegranate extract inhibited skin tumors in mice, while
the red wine compound reseveratrol, applied topically, inhibited the
expression of a cancer-causing protein normally caused by exposure to
UVB rays. Pomegranate fruit extract (PFE) contains several polyphenols
and anthocyanidins (pigment that gives certain fruits their dark red
color), which demonstrates a higher antioxidant activity than that of
red wine and green tea, according to the Wisconsin researchers.
Seed removal tip: Cut out the blossom end,
remove some of the white pith, but do not break the red pulp around the
seeds. Score the skin into quarters. Break the pomegranate into halves
and then halve again following score lines. Bend back the rind and pull
out the seeds.
Uses of the pomegranate;
The juice gives a unique fresh flavor to sauces
and marinades for fish, chicken, and beef. Use the seeds to garnish
fruit salad, dessert, and appetizers. Pomegranate juice is the original
ingredient in Grenadine although contemporary manufacturers may utilize
a synthetic.
The seeds and crimson pulp may be added to fruit
salad for a touch of color and flavor.
To extract the juice, separate and crush the edible portion of ripe
pomegranates (do not remove seeds at this point). Place fruit in jelly
cloth or bag and squeeze out the juice, or cut the fruit in quarters and
juice with a juicer. Most juicers will automatically extract the juice
and discard the seeds.
The juice can be frozen in 1/2 pint or 1 pint
containers, to make into punch later on.
Pomegranate Syrup is absolutely fantastic with
pancakes, waffles or French toast... To make it;
Boil together 3 1/2 cups pomegranate juice, 1
teaspoon lemon juice, 1/3 teaspoon salt and 1/2 bottle liquid pectin.
When mixture cannot be stirred down, add 5 1/2 cups sugar and boil for 5
or 6 minutes.
Enjoy your red food!
