QUESTION:
Hi Lena,
Please I want to know what causes fibroid in women though I learnt it's
in every woman, but I don't know how true that is or rather what brings
it out that makes it block the chances of a woman getting pregnant?
Please I'm very eager to know.
Thanks.
Regards,
Ib.
ANSWER:
First, I would like to say that Fibroids are almost never cancerous.
This is the fear played on by doctors in order to perform surgery,
usually a hysterectomy. You will be told that they may develop into
cancer therefore you should have them removed. Not necessary! But is
responsible for the thousands of hysterectomies performed daily...
Second, they are not in every woman!
Fibroids are usually benign (non-cancerous) growths that
appear within the muscle and connective tissue of the uterus. They
usually develop from a single smooth muscle cell that continues to grow.
There may have one fibroid or several; sometimes they grow in clusters.
Fibroids can vary considerably in size. A fibroid can be as small as a
pea, and most remain small. Fibroids can grow to be fairly large, larger
than a grapefruit in some cases. Most of the time fibroids grow slowly
but others develop more quickly. They typically grow larger over time.
The size and type of fibroids varies immensely among women and some are
so small that a microscope is required to see them. However, on rare
occasions, some women experience a single large fibroid tumor the size
of a grapefruit or a fibroid which is so large it encompasses the entire
abdominal area. Such large tumors can weigh as much as 50 pounds; the
largest, reported, fibroid ever recorded weighed in at 140 pounds.
About 1% of fibroids are responsible for not conceiving a child. I do
know women who have had a baby while also having fibroid tumors, and had
a normal delivery with no problems. Although most fibroids cause no
symptoms, the estimated 25 percent of women who do have symptoms may
have abnormal bleeding, pain during menstruation, and as the fibroid
tumors grow larger, women will often experience a swollen abdomen.
Types of Fibroid Tumors are;
Submucous Fibroids; These fibroids occur just below the lining of
the uterus and can cause menstrual problems, including pain as they grow
and move around the pelvic area.
Intramural Fibroids; A round fibroid most often within the
uterine wall which can cause enlargement of the uterus as they grow.
Subserous Fibroids; This fibroid grows on the outer wall of the
uterus and usually causes no symptoms until it grows large enough to
interfere with other organs.
Pedunculated Fibroids; These fibroids develop when a subserous fibroid
grows a peduncle (stalk), as they grow larger they may become twisted
and cause severe pain.
Interligamentous Fibroid; A fibroid which grows sideways between
the ligaments which support the uterus in the abdominal region. This
type of fibroid is especially difficult to remove without the
possibility of interfering with the blood supply or other organs. Is
very rare and can be responsible for miscarriage during a pregnancy.
Parasitic Fibroid; The rarest form of fibroid tumor occurs when a
fibroid attaches itself to another organ.
The traditional medical world says fibroids are caused by hormones gone
wild and no prevention is available and surgical removal is necessary
for most.
The natural medicine world believes them to be caused from hormone
fluctuations without proper mineral content in the body... Preventable
with proper nutritional balance and shrinkable by the same method,
requiring more aggressive supplementation.
Whose right? That will be debated forever I suppose. We do know that
when birth control pills came on the market in the early 60's that
fibroids became more common, which tells us that hormones do play a huge
roll in the forming of them. Just how nobody knows as it hasn't really
been studied.
I do know that I watch fibroids disappear under natural treatment with
mineral and hormone balancing. This is done with herbs and liquid
minerals. A special protocol, designed by Wayne Garland, ND,
herbologist, works to dissolve them.
99% of fibroids are not to be feared and are preventable with
supplementing minerals and herbal hormone balancing formula...
Be smart, eat right, exercise and supplement smartly so you won't grow
them!
Hope this answers your question,
Lena

That First Step to Massive Success
by Peter Murphy
Do you want to know the key to beating procrastination and
achieving much more?
Let me tell you how I discovered the secret to achieving
massive success...
I had some work to do yesterday and I kept putting it off.
I thought to my self - I?ll wait until later when I feel
more alert and in the right frame of mind to do it just
right
Do you ever do this?
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. If I wait for the
perfect moment I will be waiting a very long time.
With that in mind I just got started. I took the pressure
off and stopped insisting that I create a perfect piece of
work.
The endless pursuit of perfection and the craving for total
and complete success at everything you do is a trap.
A dangerous trap.
Why?
Because it will stop you from getting started. And
beginning is sometimes all you need to do to ensure success.
When you get the ball rolling, the gathering momentum will
keep you going.
Listen to this...
Last week - I read an interview with a world-class marathon
runner who has run some gruelling races including ones where
he ran a marathon a day each day for a week or more at a
time.
When asked how he could take on such enormous physical and
mental challenges without feeling overwhelmed he gave a
simple answer.
He said he never thinks about it in terms of running a 26
mile race instead he focuses on taking one step.
And then another, and another...
Take one step at a time.
Complete it and then take on one more step. Do this
and you can achieve some spectacular results.

FOOD OF THE WEEK

A Food And Also A Great Medicine!
Not a popular food but one that should be! Dried or fresh they are
nutrient filled along with being very calming.
Have you heard of a Fresh Fig Poultice? No? Its use is found in the
Bible in Isaiah 38:21 Works, wonders for boils and skin
infections.
Figs are one of the first known natural medicines. The Roman writer
Pliny, (52-113 AD) said, "Figs are restorative. They increase the
strength of young people, preserve the elderly in better health and make
them look younger with fewer wrinkles."
Figs contain the photochemical psoralenes, which helps bring about
beneficial results in skin injuries, hence a fig poultice to draw and
infection to a head. Also beneficial in the removal of dead skin tissues
as for cosmetic use in facial scrubs, and in a skin disease involving
lack of pigmentation in patches of skin (vitiligo).
Both fresh and dried figs are great medicinals! Dried, has about 5 times
the amount of nutrients as fresh.
The fig is very rich in fiber and a host of serenity producing vitamins
B1, B2, B5 and B6, along with heart healthy magnesium and Vitamin E.
Bone and muscle builders Calcium and Iron reside in the fig as well.
Stressed out? Eat figs!
Figs are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps to control
blood pressure. Since many people not only do not eat enough fruits and
vegetables, but also consume high amounts of sodium as salt is
frequently added to processed foods, they may be deficient in potassium.
Low intake of potassium-rich foods, especially when coupled with a high
intake of sodium, can lead to hypertension. In the Dietary Approaches to
Stop Hypertension (DASH) study, one group ate servings of fruits and
vegetables in place of snacks and sweets, and also ate low-fat dairy
food. This diet delivered more potassium, magnesium and calcium. Another
group ate a "usual" diet low in fruits and vegetables with a fat content
like that found in the average American Diet. After eight weeks, the
group that ate the enhanced diet lowered their blood pressure by an
average of 5.5 points (systolic) over 3.0 points (diastolic).
Great for intestinal balance and cleansing Figs have the highest dietary
fiber of any common fruit, nut or vegetable. They are high in peptic
fiber, which is a soft soluble fiber and helps the body remove toxic
wastes and reduces cholesterol levels. They are good to prevent and
relieve constipation. Chinese medicine recognizes figs as a toxin
neutralizer. One of the most alkalizing foods, figs can help balance the
acid that forms from diets rich in meat and refined foods. Figs contain
significant amounts of the proteolytic enzyme Ficin which is a digestion
enzyme helping with the digestion especially of proteins.
Fig sugar content and glycemic index is very high. Therefore it is
preferable and smarter to eat them with a meal or as a dessert rather
than on their own as a snack.
Leaf Has Insulin-Lowering Properties
You probably do not think about the leaves of the fig tree as one of
fig's edible parts. But in some cultures like Greece, stuffed fig leaves
or dolmas are a common part of the menu, and for good reason. The leaves
of the fig have repeatedly been shown to have antidiabetic properties
and can actually reduce the amount of insulin needed by persons with
diabetes who require insulin injections. In one study, a liquid extract
made from fig leaves was simply added to the breakfast of
insulin-dependent diabetic subjects in order to produce this
insulin-lowering effect.
Word of caution; check that the figs you are buying are organic
and of good quality. Fumigation is sometimes used to assure the absence
of insects in figs and sulphur dioxide is used to maintain their sweet
flavor and rich color. Dried figs infested by mites may cause severe
gastrointestinal conditions if eaten. Mold attack may cause figs to form
mycotoxins.
