Today my husband and I are celebrating our 46th wedding
anniversary. Did we get here easily? No, marriage takes a lot of work
along with a lot of give and take. We've been lucky that we were never
both unhappy at the same time. And then we came from very large families
and learned how to give and take with all our siblings! We
practice the adage that "If I make my mate happy today I will be
happy!" The secret to a long marriage! Of course you cannot
possible tell how to have a good marriage in one paragraph!
Steve has come up with another great Motivator, as only he can! If you

QUESTION:
Hi Lena,
my name is Rose and I have psoriasis it use to come and go for a while.
Anymore I want to itch it a lot. I feel it is always ready to break out.
I been sunning and use Dovonex ointment. What do you think?
Thanks Rose S.
ANSWER
Thank You for your question Rose!
You don't say what area(s) of your body is/are affected with psoriasis,
but it really isn't all that important? Sunning is a good thing because
you do get rays that are beneficial to the immune system. Creams will
not solve the problem EVER!
One of the most common causes of psoriasis and/or eczema these days is
bathing, and/or drinking and eating foods cooked in chlorinated water.
Bathing being the biggest culprit. Chlorine is creating severe toxicity
in many people. Some, not so severe, psoriasis problems will disappear
with putting a two or three phase water filter in the kitchen and on the
shower, a whole house filter is really something that should be
considered a necessity if you have water coming into your home from any
water system other than your own well. For what our household uses check
out
http://www.envirodocs.com/water_purification_filtration_units.htm
If that doesn't solve the problem then you will need to detox and
balance your immune system! Severe psoriasis is usually a sign of
toxins inside your body and the immune system gone wild (autoimmune
disease). It shows up in the skin, because it is the largest and only
visible organ of your body. Therefore, in the case of serious psoriatic
skin problems, treating from outside with cream is insufficient. Creams
will help short term but has toxins that contribute to the problem in
the long run... Begin by detoxifying your body, which expels the toxins
from inside. Then work at balancing the immune system that hopefully
will give you a lifetime of relief from psoriasis.
Our suggestion for detoxing and balancing the system that has worked for
others:
1)
Life Transfusion Ionic Liquid Minerals, will detox while helping to
balance every organ in your body. This should be used in two ways.
Internally 1/2 teaspoon in 8 ounces of juice morning and noon.
Secondly in your bath (1/4 cup Life Transfusion Ionic
liquid minerals & 1/2 cup Tea Tree Oil in a tub of warm water)
soak for 10 to 15 minutes two or three times a week until psoriasis
hasn't reoccurred for at least a month or so.
2)
Immune Support Master Formula and
Antioxidant Free-radical formulas that will complete the immune
system balancing. This is usually a three to six month protocol in
severe psoriasis/eczema...Less severe can sometimes get away with a one
month treatment... If your immune system is chronically out of balance
it could mean a lifetime of this...
Hope this helps to give you some alternatives but mostly will give you
relief both physically and emotionally!

A LAUGH A DAY
"She who laughs, lasts." At least that was Theresa of Avila's
philosophy. Theresa, a Spanish nun who founded the reformed order of the
Carmelites in 1562, used to look for novices who knew how to laugh, eat
and sleep. She believed that if they ate heartily, they were healthy; if
they slept well, they were more than likely free of serious sin; and if
they laughed, they had the necessary disposition to survive a difficult
life.
Abraham Lincoln must have also known that laughter is good medicine. In
writing about Lincoln's Civil War years, author Richard Hanser says that
on September 22, 1862, the War Cabinet was summoned to the White House
for a special session. Lincoln was reading a book as everyone came in.
Secretary of War Stanton later said this of the meeting: "Finally the
president turned to us and said, 'Gentlemen, did you ever read anything
of Artimus Ward? Let me read a chapter that is very funny.'"
The president then read aloud a skit called "Highhanded Outrage at
Utica." Stanton was furious, but Lincoln read on and, at the end, he
laughed heartily. "Gentlemen," he asked, "why do you not laugh? With the
fearful strain that is upon me day and night, if I did not laugh, I
should die. And you need this medicine as much as I do." It was at this
same session that the president pulled a paper from his tall hat and
read aloud the now immortalized Emancipation Proclamation.
He's right -- we may likely die without frequent and sustained doses of
laughter. After all, they who laugh, last.
Have you had your belly laugh today?

FOOD OF THE WEEK
=================
Citrullis lanatus!
Green on the outside and red or yellow on the inside! Nothing says
summer like this subtly crunch, thirst quenching fruit. A nutritious
food best to eat by itself. I know summer is really here when my husband
starts looking to purchase a watermelon!
Although watermelons can now be found in the markets throughout the
year, the season for watermelon is in the summer when they are sweet and
of the best quality. More Watermelon will be probably be eaten this week
than any other time in the U.S.
Watermelons are low in calories and very nutritious. Recent research
suggests that lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, helps prevent some forms
of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Research shows that consuming
foods that contain lycopene are associated with a decreased risk of
prostate and cervical cancer.
Watermelon is related to the cantaloupe, squash and pumpkin as well as
some other plants that grow on ground vines. Watermelons can be round,
oblong or spherical in shape and feature thick green rinds that are
often spotted or striped. They range in size from a few pounds to upward
of ninety pounds. The biggest watermelon grown according to the 1996
Guiness Book of World Records weighed in at 262 pounds!
Health Benefits
While the watermelon does not contain a large amount of nutrients it
still is considered a healthy food! This delectable thirst-quencher may
also help quench the inflammation that contributes to conditions like
asthma, atherosclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and arthritis.
According to research conducted at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, men who consumed a lycopene-rich diet were half as likely
to suffer a heart attack as those who had little or no lycopene in their
diets. Red meat watermelon is rich in lycopene, second only to the
tomato.
Watermelon is also high in vitamin C and vitamin A, in the form of
disease-fighting beta carotene.
Watermelon also contains potassium, which is known to help control blood
pressure and possibly prevent strokes as well as necessary for a regular
heart beat.
Watermelon is not a commonly allergenic food, is not included in the
list of 20 foods that most frequently contain pesticide residues, and is
also NOT KNOWN to contain goitrogens, oxalates, or purines.
Many new varieties of watermelons have been developed in recent years.
Yellow and seedless types are finding an increasing share of the
specialty watermelon market. Small excellent quality "icebox" melons are
also becoming increasingly popular.
WATERMELON VARIETIES; Seedless, yellow: Seedless, red: Yellow
flesh, seeded: Red flesh, seeded:
"Seedless" marketing note: "Seedless" varieties may have some seeds,
especially in the first fruits set if the plant is under moisture or
temperature stress.
Choosing the right watermelon!
Look the watermelon over, choose a firm, symmetrical watermelon that is
free of bruises, cuts and dents.
Lift it up - the watermelon should be heavy for its size. Watermelon is
92% water, that accounts for most of its weight.
Turn it over - on the underside of the watermelon there should be a
creamy yellow spot from where it sat on the ground and ripened in the
sun.
Following these tips will help you pick the best watermelon available.
History
Originating in Africa, watermelons were first cultivated in Egypt where
testaments to their legacy were recorded in hieroglyphics painted on
building walls. The fruit was held is such regard that it was placed in
the tombs of many Egyptian kings. It is not surprising that watermelon
played such an important role in this country, and subsequently in
countries in the Mediterranean region, since water was often in short
supply in these areas, and people could depend upon watermelon for its
thirst-quenching properties.
Watermelons were brought to China around the 10th century and then to
the Western Hemisphere shortly after the discovery of the New World. In
Russia, where much of the commercial supply of watermelons is grown,
there is a popular wine made from this fruit. In addition to Russia, the
leading commercial growers of watermelon include China, Turkey, Iran and
the United States.
Tips for Preparing Watermelon:
Wash the watermelon before cutting it to prevent introducing germs into
the melon on cutting. Due to its large size, you will probably not be
able to run it under water in the sink. Instead, wash it with a wet
cloth or paper towel.
Depending upon the size that you desire, there are many ways to cut a
watermelon. The flesh can be sliced, cubed or scooped into balls.
Watermelon is delicious to eat as is, while it also makes a delightful
addition to a fruit salad. Jam, sorbet and juice are some nutritious and
delicious things you can make with watermelon.
While many people are just accustomed to eating the juicy flesh of the
watermelon, both the seeds and the rind are also edible.
Enjoy your refreshing low calorie watermelon!
