What do you know about amalgam fillings, root canals, cavitation?

How nice of your mom to forward the ezine to you, tell her thank you for me.

Your question is short but the answer will be very long with the things I've learned over the last 15 years!

As for AMALGAM FILLINGS, which is 50% mercury and bad for all people; Some people that are very sensitive but may not know they are sensitive have severe health problems show up after having one filling. Yet some will not have a problem until several fillings are in the mouth and then health problem(s) appear that are caused from the amalgam leakage. Still doctors do not connect the illness(s) with the fillings and that person ends up on all kinds of medications and treatments that never really help! Arthritis being the most common, yet some very serious illnesses occurs!

Here are what scientists say about mercury and amalgam;
*Mercury has been scientifically demonstrated to be more toxic than Lead, Cadmium or even Arsenic.
*Mercury leaves dental amalgam continuously throughout the lifetime of the filling.
*Mercury vapor is the main way that mercury comes out of amalgam.
*Mercury vapor is absorbed at a rate of 80% through the lungs into the arterial blood
*Mercury kills cells.
*There is NO harmless level of Mercury Vapor Exposure
*Mercury from mercury fillings binds to sulphydryl groups. These exist in almost every enzymatic process in the body. Mercury from amalgam has the potential to disturb all metabolic processes 
*Mercury from amalgam is transported freely via the blood.

*Mercury levels in the blood can NOT be assessed by blood or urine levels
*Dental personnel are severely affected by exposure to mercury

I do hope you meant CAVATIES and not cavitation as they are two different things: Cavitation is all about pumps and technical stuff that I know nothing about. Now if you meant CAVATIES that I know about and that they are caused from other than plaque, which we are being erroneously taught. Read "The Truth About Tooth Decay" that can avert the necessity of a root canal as well as avert cavities.

ROOT CANALS: In the hope of saving teeth the root canal was born and it appeared to be the answer but "Root Canals Pose Health Threat." Say George Meinig, D.D.S.

Dr. Meining was one of the founders of the American Association of Endodontists (root canal specialists)! So he's filled his share of root canals. And when he wasn't filling canals himself, he was teaching the technique to dentists across the country at weekend seminars and clinics. In 1999, having recently retired, he decided to read all 1174 pages of the detailed research of Dr. Weston Price, (D.D.S). Dr. Meinig was startled and shocked. Here was valid documentation of systemic illnesses resulting from latent infections lingering in filled roots. He has since written a book, "Root Canal Cover-Up EXPOSED - Many Illnesses Result", and is devoting himself to radio, TV, and personal appearances before groups in an attempt to blow the whistle and alert the public.

A high percentage of chronic degenerative diseases can originate from root filled teeth. The most frequent were heart and circulatory diseases and he found 16 different causative agents for these. The next most common diseases were those of the joints, arthritis and rheumatism. In third place - but almost tied for second - were diseases of the brain and nervous system. After that, any disease you can name might (and in some cases has) come from root filled teeth.

No matter what material or technique is used - and this is just as true today - the root filling shrinks minutely, perhaps microscopically. Further and this is key - the bulk of solid appearing teeth, called the dentin, actually consists of miles of tiny tubules. Microscopic organisms lurking in the maze of tubules simply migrate into the interior of the tooth and set up housekeeping. A filled root seems to be a favorite spot to start a new colony.

One of the things that makes this difficult to understand is that large, relatively harmless bacteria, common to the mouth, change and adapt to new conditions. They shrink in size to fit the cramped quarters and even learn how to exist (and thrive!) on very little food. Those that need oxygen mutate and become able to get along without it. In the process of adaptation these formerly friendly "normal" organisms become pathogenic (capable of producing disease) and more virulent (stronger) and they produce much more potent toxins. Not a good picture!

Today's bacteriologists are confirming the discoveries of the Price team of bacteriologists. Both isolated, in root canals, the same strains of streptococcus, staphylococcus and spirochetes.
 
It is known that every root canal filling does leak and bacteria do invade the structure. But the variable factor is the strength of the person's immune system. Some healthy people are able to control the germs that escape from their teeth into other areas of the body. We think this happens because their immune system lymphocytes (white blood cells) and other disease fighters aren't constantly compromised by other ailments. In other words, they are able to prevent those new colonies from taking hold in other tissues throughout the body. But over time, most people with root filled teeth do seem to develop some kinds of systemic symptoms they didn't have before.

A root filled tooth no longer has any fluid circulating through it, but the maze of tubules remains. The anaerobic bacteria that live there seem remarkably safe from antibiotics. The bacteria can migrate out into surrounding tissue where they can "hitch hike" to other locations in the body via the bloodstream. The new location can be any organ or gland or tissue, and the new colony will be the next focus of infection in a body plagued by recurrent or chronic infections.

"All dentists know that sometimes arthritis and other illnesses clear up if bad teeth are extracted.

What's really unfortunate here is that very valuable information was covered up and totally buried some 70 years ago by a minority group of autocratic doctors who just didn't believe or can't grasp - the infection theory.

Hopefully this does not leave you in the dark as to where I stand on these three dental problems.

ONE LIGHT

Imagine an artist painting a winter scene. She depicts a white, frozen ground and evergreens draped in snow. Her hand brings the day to a close as she paints night falling on the canvas. In the deep shadows of dusk, she has painted a grim, log cabin, barely visible to the casual observer.

Then she dips her brush in yellow paint and, with a few quick strokes, places a brightly burning lamp in one of the cabin's windows. Warm rays dance on white snow, now made brighter by the light. The Really Healthy Disease Proofing Vegetable!
 
Over the last weeks, if you've read all the Food Of The Week columns you can see how fruits and vegetables are disease fighters extraordinaire! This week isn't going to change that and in fact is one of the best yet.

I advocate eating at least 50% to 60% of your foods as raw fruits and vegetables daily to get the maximum nutritional value out of them.
 
When it comes to nutritional value, broccoli is at the top. It is rich in vitamins, high in fiber, low in calories and contains as much calcium as milk and much healthier. By including broccoli regularly in your diet you can reduce and prevent ailments like cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease.
 
Want to know how to beat prostate cancer? Your physician will probably tell you to take prescription drugs. That's the pharmaceutical industry trained doctor's answer who has been brainwashed to give that answer. For a dual killer of those nasty illnesses mix tomato and broccoli, and even helps reverse breast cancer, colon cancer, leukemia and other cancers of the body.
 
Why not something that is safer that your body is built to accept 100% and is proving to be far better for fighting diseases.
 
This green vegetable looks like a bush should be on everyone's plate on a regular basis, if they wish to stay healthy! Has been around for more than 2000 years. During the 16th century, the plant was grown in Italy and France. It began to be commercially grown in the United States in the 1920s. The word "broccoli" derives from the Italian 'Brocco' meaning arm branch. Broccoli is related to cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.
 
Broccoli is an antioxidant rich food filled with the minerals Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese and Selenium. Rich in vitamins such as; Vitamin C, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Vitamin B-6, Folate, Folic acid, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin A, Retinol and Vitamin E.  broccoli really delivers in the nutrition department. 
 
A University of Illinois-Urbana study found that rats eating a combination of broccoli and tomatoes had a lower rate of tumor growth than rats eating broccoli or tomatoes separately.  Researcher John Erdman said the two foods bring out the best in each other, and maximize the cancer-fighting effect of the nutrients they contain. You might consider mixing the two for optimum illness fighters!
 
When choosing broccoli in the market, select organic heads that have tight and compact bud clusters with an even dark color. The stems should be a lighter green than the buds and easy to pierce with a fingernail. Avoid stalks with yellowed or open bud clusters and stems that are hard and dry. Broccoli can be stored, unwashed, in a plastic bag in the refrigerator crisper for days. Before use, wash by rinsing in purified/filtered water with a splash of vinegar for disinfectant. 
 
Our favorite ways of eating broccoli are steamed with a splash of seasoned rice vinegar, or raw with other veggies as a salad with lemon juice and virgin olive oil or flax seed oil as dressing. Also we like raw broccoli flowerets with sliced tomatoes and sliced sweet onions. Grandchildren like them with a bit of ranch dressing, which I don't think of as healthy but a little once in a while isn't going to kill them and it gets them to eat the broccoli! I try to make it fresh so it's not quite as lethal.
 
Here is a great recipe:
 
Broccoli with Garlic
 
1 bunch of broccoli, OR 1 pound of frozen chopped broccoli
2 medium fresh tomatoes (cut into bite size pieces)
6 garlic cloves 
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons purified/filtered water
1/4 teaspoon hot (cayenne) pepper (optional)
 
Wash broccoli and cut into small florets.   Cut the tender parts of the stem into smallish cubes or save add to stew or make Broccoli Slaw.
 
Steam in a microwave steamer or over boiling water until barely tender and still bright green (about 3-1/2 to 5 minutes in a microwave, depending on the volume of broccoli and water).  Don't overcook!  For all cruciferous, this is a very important guideline!
 
Place olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.  Chop or mince the garlic.   When the oil is hot, add the salt, then the garlic.  Saut? stirring frequently, just until the garlic starts to soften.  Quickly add the water, and the cayenne if desired.  Turn heat low and simmer for a couple of minutes.
 
Place the broccoli and fresh tomatoes in a large glass or crockery serving bowl.  Pour the garlic mixture over it, mixing gently to coat each piece evenly.  Serve and enjoy.

 
Chill leftovers and add to salad the next day.
 
Now go get some broccoli for your next meal, enjoy and know you are eating for health!
