Greetings along with a hope for your week to start off well!

Today's ezine is a long one simply because last week Yvonne had a question re; cavitation that I was unfamiliar with and could not find it defined in the dental journal but my readers are on the ball; Patrick and Claudia sends this and I do not take it as an affront. I don't know everything and I'm the first one to tell you that...

Patrick states; Forward your newsletter to a friend!  She loves you!  Can I send you her comments about Cavitation? This is in no way intended to sharpshoot or put down your article but I know you love to learn.  So here goes!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the interesting article.  It was very informative, with the exception of  the part of the question about Cavitation. I did not think that the answer was very complete, so I wanted to add this explanation. This is an important health concern, and one of which we are not generally aware.

This information was taken from the book, Uninformed Consent by Hal Huggins, DDS and Thomas Levy, MD

A cavitation refers to a toxin-containing hole in the jawbone at the site of a previously extracted tooth.  It appears that this hole develops because of incomplete healing after routine extraction.  This incomplete healing is promoted by a number of factors, including the following:
Failure to completely remove the periodontal ligament lining to the tooth. ( Most common).
Physically large surgical extractions, such as with impacted wisdom teeth, where the resulting holes can be expected to be larger than usual and more new bone is required to fill the holes in.
Failure to clean out thoroughly the infected adjacent bone ( and infected periodontal ligaments) seen in the extraction of root canals and abscessed teeth.
Failure to remove condensing osteitis, the reactive bone formation that attempts to wall off infection, usually involving the periodontal ligaments as well.
Poor immune systemic healing support from a compromised immune system.
Poor nutrition.
Failure to allow the formation of a complete blood clot at the excavation site, or too early a dislodgment of that clot that forms after extraction; also bleeding disorders.
Smoking.
Antibiotic therapy.
Chronic osteoporosis of the jawbone.

Systemic and adjacent toxicity ( from other dental toxicity and other sources.)
Preexisting periodontal (gum) disease, in addition to any other factor that would promote periodontal disease.
How common are cavitations?  In an article published in the Journal of Advancement in Medicine, by Dr. Levy and Dr. Huggins, they wrote that after drilling at all sites of extraction of the larger teeth in their clinic patients, they found it was apparent that  cavitations were an extremely common finding.  In the review of wisdom teeth extractions, cavitations were found at these sites 88% of the time. The overall rate of cavitation at nonmolar sites was 55%. (95 out of 174 extraction sites.) Even though this is a condition that is still largely unknown to most of dentistry, it should be emphasized that the true incidence of cavitation formation is still probably underestimated by those numbers.

Most dentists convince themselves that if a cavitation cannot be seen on x-ray, it must not be there.  However, a cavitation characteristically cannot be seen on x-ray.  In fact, this difficulty in being seen on x-ray has caused cavitations to be labeled the "invisible osteomyelitis."  Methodology is now being developed that is giving the dentist a computer-generated visualization of the cavitation to be explored.  A normal x-ray appearance should never assure you that no cavitation is present at an old extraction site.

The toxicity at the cavitation site does the damage, and is the primary concern when cavitations are present.  The routine extraction that leaves behind the periodontal ligament and inhibits the formation of a good blood clot also routinely allows the ongoing exposure of this empty socket to the bacteria of the mouth until the top heals over.  The cavitation officially forms when healing at the top is complete.  The healing over the top allows the rapid development of an oxygen-deprived state in the hole. Native mouth bacteria produce highly toxic metabolic-by-products as a result of the oxygen starvation.  Bacteria that normally are harmless to man when oxygen is present form a deadly toxin when that oxygen is removed. There are no known toxins having the potency of bacterial toxins seen in cavitations and other places that trap such bacteria in an anaerobic environment. The contents of a cavitation have always tested as highly toxic, but some people seem to do very well clinically when their dental toxicity has been removed except for the cavitations.  The reason for this variability seems to be how much access the toxicity has to the rest of the body.

With root canals, the high pressure generated in chewing can be expected to physically push toxins out of the socket where they can eventually be picked up and distributed by the blood circulation. With the cavitation, the pressure of chewing are not routinely transmitted, and the toxins tend more to stay put.

Cavitation toxicity also tends to be cumulative.  The more you have, the more toxicity is present.  In Dr. Levy and Dr. Huggins referral center, they consistently observed that the sickest patients, usually the wheelchair-bound neurological patients, had the least teeth.  Patients who have few or no teeth will usually have long channels of cavitation in their jawbones.  In the 1996 issue of the Journal of Dental Research, this observation correlating greater illness with fewer teeth was given support.  It was found that among men who reported preexisting periodontal disease, those with ten or fewer teeth were at an increased risk of coronary heart disease when compared with men who still had twenty-five or more teeth.  Parkinson's disease had long been a disease in which dental revision seemed to rarely have a positive effect, but when cavitation cleaning was added to the program, some degree of positive clinical and laboratory response became routine.

Cavitations cleaning,  even when done perfectly as technically possible, does not assure that the cavitation will not recur from lack of complete healing. All the factors already mentioned that can initially cause the cavitation can also increase the likelihood of its recurrence.

As shocking as any aspect of the cavitation is what is routinely found under the microscope.  The contents of the cavitations are always necrotic, dead material.  The microscopic picture looks the same as gangrene!  Most people know that the only way to treat gangrene is to cut it out or cut it off.  The situation is no different with the cavitation.  Everyone also knows that if a gangrenous extremity is not amputated the rest of the body will sicken and die. However, when something is out of sight, it tends to be out of mind.  Cavitations are rarely apparent;  knowing they are there is the first step in getting them treated.

When someone with cavitations feels well and has a normal laboratory profile, it is likely that most of the toxins are staying in place.  But if it is elected not to clean out the cavitations, their presence should never be forgotten if the patient has a subsequent decline in health.  Cavitations can progress over time, with more and more adjacent jawbone dying.

The approach to minimizing the impact of the toxicity of cavitations is much the same as dealing with all toxins, regardless of source.  But when the source of the toxin is identified, as with the cavitation, it should be directly addressed and cleaned whenever possible.  Proper nutrition,  through proper diet that is digested as well as possible, is always critical.  All the mineral supplementation appropriate elsewhere is also appropriate in treating the toxicity of cavitations.

As nearly everyone has had one or more teeth extracted, the full impact of cavitation toxicity on the public health is enormous.  Even young people who have never had a filling, root canal, or crown will often have had their wisdom teeth removed.  The toxicity of cavitations can exert its influence over many decades of a person's life.  When that person finally gets a chronic or terminal disease, no thought is ever given to the many unnecessary years of toxic stress that the cavitations placed on the immune system.  Like the rest of dental toxicity,so many people have it that we have no real knowledge of what life expectancy and quality of health could be without it.
Cavitations also play a prominent role in many people by making other diseases worse.  They will make it more difficult for a compromised immune system to ever completely recover.  The immune system characteristically tolerates all stresses fairly well until it collapses relatively suddenly.  As a background toxic factor in many people, cavitations can still serve more to suppress and immune system already collapsed than as a major factor causing the collapse.  Just as a boxer can take a jab without falling, the same jab continuously applied after falling will very effectively prevent the boxer from ever getting up again.  This is why much of the toxicity from cavitations is so inapparent.  It might not be the cause of an illness, but it can easily be the factor that prevents recovery from it.  The lack of awareness of this common condition will remain the main obstacle in getting it routinely treated.  Looking for cavitations and cleaning them out should be routinely  performed to optimize the strength of any patients immune system.

QUESTION:

Hi,
We have a friend visiting from South Carolina who suffers from migraines and has apparently tried everything he can think of along with the Dr's prescriptions and even voodoo to cure his migraines. Apparently caused from a stressful job over the years.

Any recommended formulas that might help?
T

ANSWER:

I get a lot of questions from women about migraines but men usually don't ask? He still isn't asking, a great friend you are to ask for him...

Migraines in men are mainly stress related but without more information I can't say for sure that stress is his problem, but more than likely is. Since he has seen a doctor, I'm hoping it was a good one, they've ruled out a brain tumor or aneurysm.

VooDoo? Which I find funny but he must have been desperate to go that far and it didn't work....

Migraines are tough but stress related ones requires keeping calm along with strengthening the veins and arteries to make them less likely to constrict, which tends to be the culprit in men's migraines.

I am going to take a stab and hope to help him.

FIRST; Undetected Yeast and/or bacteria and/or viruses in the body have also been known to create migraines, so first lets make sure that isn't the problem and start with Ionic Silver Water, 3 Tablespoons initial dose then 1 Tablespoon twice a day for a couple of weeks, to kill any possible yeast in the body that may be exacerbating the problem..  If that doesn't do the trick then add the following?

NECESSITY; Life Transfusion Ionic Liquid minerals, 20 to 30 drops in juice morning and afternoon, to strengthen the veins and arteries and assure the absorption of nutrients from foods and supplements thereby making the body less susceptible to stress and tension. This is something every body should be taking unless they are getting 7 - 9 organic fruits and vegetable servings daily.

Also need to eliminate stress by taking Tolerance Stress Relieving formula 1 capsule three times a day. This is the herbal world's natural antidepressants/stress reliever.

Add to those Mind Power Anti-aging Formula 1 capsule in the morning noon and dinner/supper. For one week. Then increase it to 2 capsules morning and noon for second week. Increase to 3 capsule morning and 2 capsules at noon for third week and thereafter... This will strengthen the brain pathways while nourishing the brain. Side effect is a stronger mental capacity and larger memory ability?

All of these can be found at http://www.antibiotic-alternatives.com/herbal_pharmacy.htm

If he isn't into an exercise program that too is a key necessity in stress reduction!

Being faithful at taking minerals and herbs and exercise program is necessary to assure no more stress related headaches, migraine or otherwise...

He would do well to stay away from dairy products as milk & cheeses have been known to throw the adrenal glands out of whack and contribute to headaches of all types... Butter shouldn't be a problem, but is known to affect a few...

Here's hoping he has a migraine-free rest of his life!

THE LOVELIEST WORD

A funny story has it that in 1926 Thelma Goldstein from Chicago
treated herself to her first real vacation in Florida. Unfamiliar with
the area, she wandered into a "restricted" hotel in north Miami.

Getting the attention of the manager, she said, "Excuse me, but my
name is Mrs. Goldstein and I'd like a small room for two weeks."

"I'm awfully sorry," he replied, "but all our rooms are occupied."

Just then a man came down the stairs and checked out.

"What luck!" Mrs. Goldstein smiled. "Now there's a room."

"I'm sorry ma'am, but there are no rooms available. This hotel is
restricted. No Jews allowed."

"Jewish? Who's Jewish? I happen to be Catholic."

"I find that hard to believe, Mrs. Goldstein. Let me ask you, who was the son of God?"

"Jesus," she answered.

"Where was he born?" he man continued.

"In a stable."

"And why was he born in a stable?"

"Because a schmuck like you wouldn't let a Jew rent a room in his
hotel!"

Poet Carl Sandburg was speaking in Hendersonville, North Carolina, when he was asked an unusual question: "What is the ugliest word in the English language?" How would you answer that question? Sandburg struggled for a moment. "The ugliest, ugliest word?"

"The ugliest word," he finally answered, "is `exclusive.´"

I think he is right. A group that is exclusive includes some people and shuts out others. Its doors are open only to a few. It separates people into favorable and less favorable categories. It differentiates between "our kind" and "those others."

If "exclusive" is the ugliest word in the language, would "inclusive" be the loveliest? Is the loveliest thought one that shuts out nobody? The loveliest act one that brings in everybody? The loveliest place one where we all belong?

If so, then the loveliest world is one that includes all of us...fully... no exceptions. And THAT...is a beautiful thought.

FOOD OF THE WEEK

The "Elixir of Gods!"

What is generally thought of as a food is a great deal more!

Honey has long been known in folk medicine circles as a "magic elixir." Known to have antioxidant properties, which we know is necessary to ward off illness and diseases. After adding 4 tablespoons of buckwheat honey to their daily diet, participants in a study showed an increase in their levels of antioxidants in their blood. But when it comes to antioxidants, not all honey is created equal: The darker the honey, the more antioxidants it has.

Vitamins in honey are said to be A, B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin), Nicotinic acid (niacin), B6 (Pyridoxine), B12 (Cyanocobaltamine, C (Ascorbic acid), D, E (Tocopherol), H (Biotin), Pantothenic acid and Folic acid. Minerals in honey are said to be Calcium, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sodium and Zinc. Honey has tested out to have antibacterial properties as well as sterilizing of wounds and sores. Whether it's the make up or the way the different vitamins and minerals are put together in honey, we don't know but it is a known medicinal addition.

Honey is known to improve food assimilation and useful for chronic and infective intestinal problems such as constipation, duodenal ulcers and liver disturbances. Reports abound with successful treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders. Honey, when poured into open wounds, bed sores, ulcers, varicose ulcers and burns, twice a day heals the worst of the worst. It prevents infections, promotes tissue regeneration, and reduces scarring best when used in its pure, unprocessed form. If applied immediately, honey reduces blistering of burns and speeds regeneration of new tissue. Many case histories are reported. Homogenized honey isn't useful for anything but a sweetener as the healing properties are removed in the homogenization process.

In the alternatives health communities honey is a well known remedy for colds and mouth, throat or bronchial irritations and infections. The benefits, apart from antibacterial effects, are assumed to relate to the soothing and relaxing effect of fructose.

Honey, beeswax, and various other bee products have quite a following in many Asian countries, as well as in Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe. One of the biggest health claims is that bee venom cures multiple sclerosis, but I find no historical cases to back up the claim even though I've read of people using bee stings for that purpose as well as for arthritis.

Honey is far better to use as a sweetener for diabetics than sugar as insulin levels are lower when compared to the uptake of equal caloric values of other foods. My belief is, nature made our body's to react to natural substances better than man made sugar, any some data exists to back up that belief.

Then, there's the purity of beeswax candles compared to the paraffin candles most people burn in their homes. I hate to break it to you romantic types, but paraffin candles are just a spiffed-up version of petroleum products with large doses of chemical fragrance. And they release decidedly unromantic elements, such as soot and smoke, while burning.
Burning paraffin candles has been compared to breathing in diesel fumes. I don't know about you, but that would kill the mood for me. But beeswax candles don't have that problem. In fact, burning beeswax produces negative ions, which are nature's air purifiers.

Honey can be used as an alternative to sugar in baking, cereals and any thing you want to add a bit of flavor!

If you find yourself with a cough and sore throat this winter make your own cough syrup.

Herbal/Honey cough syrup

1 tablespoon licorice root
1 tablespoon marshmallow root
1 tablespoon plantain leaf
1 teaspoon thyme leaf
1 pint purified/filtered water
4 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon anise essential oil (optional)

Prepare a triple-strength tea by simmering the herbs in water for 10 minutes, then steeping for 20 minutes. Strain the tea, then stir in honey and glycerin while the tea is still warm. Add optional essential oil. Take 1 tablespoon at a time. Stored in a cool place, this syrup will keep for 2 weeks. In the refrigerator, it will keep for several months.

#2 cough Recipe
6 fresh garlic cloves (minced)
2 cups purified/filtered water
1 tablespoon pure lemon juice
3/4 cup honey

Bring water and minced garlic to a boil. Turn burner off and let steep for about 20 minutes.
Put into Vita Mixer and liquefy (no vitamixer - let set until cool, then strain), add lemon juice and honey, mix well and let sit until cool, store in dry cool place, if using in the next 2 weeks otherwise refrigerate.
1 Tablespoon three or four times a day. Much better than OTC cough preparations!

Suitable for children, but not for infants, who should not have honey.

Wishing you healthy eating!
