Are You Really Treating Your Problem?
© By Lena Sanchez

There is a common thread among the rising numbers of diseases and illness, which is that people have bought into the habit of running to the doctor or ER for every little problem.  They simple do not want to take responsibility for their own  life or health!  So it appears to me after twenty years of triage…

I thought it would be good to list a few things that happen when running to your doctor for every little ache and pain.  Let's start with Mistakes and what happens because of those.

Clot-Drug Mistakes Kill Hundreds Every Year

About 1,500 Americans die each year because health-care providers give them the wrong doses of clot-busting medications at the wrong times. That's according to a study conducted by researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. They reviewed data on eight studies involving about 50,000 patients to see how common errors were in administering life-saving anti-clotting medications.

These drugs, called tPA, streptokinase and Retavase, are standard treatments for patients arriving in the emergency room suffering from a heart attack or stroke.  They need to be given during a specific window of time after symptoms begin. If given too late, they can be dangerous and may cause hemorrhaging.

The study found tPA errors were the highest, with a rate of 12 to 16 percent. There was an 8 to 11 percent rate of errors for patients given streptokinase, and  a 5 percent error rate among those receiving Retavase.  According to those researchers; The death rate was 7 percent to 8 percent even when the drugs were given properly, and doubled when administered incorrectly. Errors occurred more in women than men. Researchers say this may be because women may need less than the standard dose.

Lead researcher Dr. Christopher Cannon says these findings suggest that 22,500 patients across the country get the wrong doses of the clot-dissolving medications each year, with an estimated 1,500 persons dying annually from such mistakes. by Katrina Woznicki

Drug Induced Malnutrition

Some commonly prescribed drugs cause severe nutritional deficiencies all by themselves…Malnutrition is the number one cause for most illnesses. Not always from not eating either. Nearly every man made drug takes a heavy toll in unwanted, and dangerous, side effects, of which malnutrition being the most common denominator…

1.DIURETICS for high blood pressure wash potassium, magnesium, sodium, zinc and vitamin B2 right out of your body along with the water. Even more alarming is the report From the National Institute in November 1998 states that, “diuretics also increase the risk of kidney cancer,” as found by the researchers that conducted the studies.

2.ESTROGEN replacement drugs, such as Premarin, can leave you deficient in all the B complex, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc.

3.ANTACIDS steal from your tissues important life altering vitamins A and B1, folic acid, calcium,  copper, iron and phosphorus.

4.ANTIBIOTICS deplete numerous vitamins --B2,C, D, niacin, folic acid, biotin…and minerals---calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc.

5.SHAMPOOS and CONDITIONERS that are chemical based have several chemicals but a couple that has drawn attention is DEA and Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or simply SLS which are absorbed into your blood stream and create changes in our hormonal systems that in turn cause cancer & other diseases.

6.CHLORINE in our municipal water systems has been proven to cause cancers of all kinds, with bathing in chlorinated water being worse than drinking chlorinated water. Bottled water still has chlorine so don’t feel that you are safe just because you drink bottled water.

7.ANTI-INFLAMMITORIES (NSAIDS) stops  the production of good prostaglandins, which promote healing of the joints and cartilage.  Without those prostaglandins doing their job it causes further damage to your joints and muscles…

 8. CHOLESTEROL lowering drugs wash out the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy as it washes out the cholesterol. It deplete numerous vitamins --B2, C, D, niacin, folic acid, biotin…and minerals---calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, etc.

Then comes the champion killer! Cortisone!

Cortisone is a steroid hormone that's produced naturally by your adrenal glands. It helps your body store glucose, an energy-food source. It helps your body regulate its use of fats, salts and blood and helps the body deal with stress, among other things. But along came the synthetic form of cortisone called prednisone.

Doctors use cortisone (comes with many names) because it is a very powerful drug for reducing swelling. Never mind that it doesn’t help the underlying problem that is causing the swelling and other problems. It can be taken as a pill or injected directly into joints, making our fast food society happy that they don’t have to do anything but sit there or take the magic little pill or get that magic injection that stops the pain right now.  But good luck on getting well for any length of time!

What does cortisone/Prednisone do for you? (Simple terminology) First it masks the pain and does nothing to treat the cause of the pain. Second, it begins wearing away and eroding the naturally smooth bone surfaces that glide against each other at joints, that sets you up for bigger problems later.  By giving your body cortisone it sends your adrenal gland wrong signals, making it wonder what to do next and over prolonged time will shut it down because of that confusion. Then come the mood swings, the weight gain caused from a voracious appetite created by the cortisone/Prednisone.  Kidneys are really struggling to keep up the filtration needed to washout the chemicals; the liver is overworked and you can end up with Hepatitis or cirrhosis.

Depletions Created By Medications:

1.Taking Oral Contraceptives Can Result in a Deficiency of folate!

2. Antacids like Rolaids or Maalox can weaken bones by hindering their mineral uptake.

3. Taking grapefruit juice with the antihistamine Allegra (fexofenadine) decreases its absorption!

4. Taking grapefruit juice with the blood-pressure-lowering drug Plendil (felodipine) increases its absorption!

5. When taking an antibiotic you should never drink colas as that sets up a chain reaction of all kinds of later problems!

6. Aspirin taken on a regular basis -- say, by an arthritis or heart patient -- can deplete the body of iron!

7. The antidepressant drug Prozac (fluoxetine) can decrease the appetite in some while increasing the appetite in others and depleting the system of many nutrients!

8. If you use the heart drug Coumadin (warfarin), tell your doctor if you eat a lot of green leafy vegetables or take fish oil supplements as they can cause the blood thinner to over react!

9. Large doses of zinc can interfere with the absorption of Iron, Copper and Calcium!

Did you get the point here? Your medications may be creating more illness for you and in most instances do not medicate the problem, only mask it and create more problems. Do some research and try natural treatments Try taking care of the area that is causing the problem instead of masking it.  Proper eating, exercise, supplementing with minerals, vitamins and herbs can create a healthy body! Stop being lazy and letting someone else determine whether you are healthy or ill.
