I have a problem when I try to stand on one leg
I loose my balance. Can you give me some ideas as to
why. I'm 77 years old and have never had this
problem until just a few years back.
My answers
to readers question come from 20+ years as a Medical Office Nurse along
with my ongoing education in nutritional and alternative
treatment modes along
with my many years of friendship with Dr. Wayne Garland,
a very knowledgeable naturopath and herbologist, who
many years ago, beat his cancer death sentence given by
the traditional medical world, has helped me along this
path and
hopefully help to give hope to those who need it... I
also receive a lot of study reports and try to ascertain
if they are good or bad and report them to you, which
has increased my knowledge and I pass them on to you to
use or not...
I am not a doctor or dentist and you should not think of
me as one!!
My years observing life and health of the many
people/patients around me and the contradictions of the
traditional medical world's idea of treating -
prescription domino effect - while watching those same
schooled methods that aren't relieving illness but
creating far more than they help. Those same medical
professionals aren't telling people how to get healthy
or how to prevent illness, which led me to look for
something to change that premise for myself and those
around me. In looking outside the Westernized medical
profession I found and continue to find alternatives
that really work to create health and longevity -when
adhered to - beyond anything the traditional medical
world can do...

ANSWER:
Hi Bill,
Sorry about your balance problem... That type of
imbalance is most usually given a reason as aging
without exercising. Loss of balance most often comes
from a couple of different reasons and sometime one
or both causes exist;
1) If you noticed that at some point your whole body
loosened up with drooping of skin and muscles along
with painful joints occurring in almost every part
of the body... One reason being that certain
imbalances are caused when a person doesn't
strengthened the muscle tone of the body with
exercise at least 4 or 5 days a week. Men are more
often affected by that fact as their muscles and
tendons are somewhat different than women and
require more strengthening, but women do experience
the same problem with a lack of strength toning
exercise... Some people show effects of that earlier
than others so that balance is lost sooner even than
your 77 years. I can bet you do not now nor have
done past weight strength exercises.
2) Another extremely important and common factor
contributing to the lack of toning in the body is
not being given the daily balance of minerals and
meganutrients needed to prevent the drooping, flabby
muscles, joints and tendons... Eating well can't
possibly provide those nutrients needed for minerals
balance as it no longer exists in the earth that our
foods are grown in therefore making it impossible to
get them in food. Sadly the fertilizer put on our
earth to make the veggies and fruits look good
creates an even more severe imbalance? I'm sure if
you read my ezine regularly you already know I'm
going to tell you that...
You are not too old to start and correct some if not
all of your balance problem. A study was done over a
five year period about twenty years ago with men who
had lost their muscle tone and was in the same boat
you are and after several months on the toning
exercises more than 90% of those men had regained
their muscle tone and balance. They were also given
daily mineral and vitamin supplements. At the end of that five year
period 100% had regained strength and balance... If
it works for men it will also work for women, even
though the study included only men.
You can do the same by making sure you are
supplementing daily with
meganutrient vitamins and
balanced minerals along with proper strength
toning exercises... With some simple supplementing
and brisk walking will do the trick but not always
as walking doesn't do the strengthening with the
right muscle groups. Be patient and it will happen.
I do hope this helps you understand that it is
possible to correct your problem, but it will take
action.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU A KICK
I'm told the story is true: A woman
was giving birth to a baby in an elevator at a hospital.
When she complained about the location, a nurse said,
"Why, this isn't so bad; last year a woman delivered her
baby out on the front lawn."
"Yes," said the woman giving birth, "that was me, too."
Who said, "If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any
luck at all"? But on the other hand, not all "bad luck"
should be considered a bad thing! Like someone said,
"When life gives you a kick, let it kick you forward."
In the 1920s, Ernest Hemingway learned something about
"bad luck" and getting kicked by life. He was struggling
to make his mark as an author when disaster struck. He
lost a suitcase containing all his manuscripts - many
stories he'd polished to jewel-like perfection - which
he'd been planning to publish in a book.
According to Denis Waitley in his book EMPIRES OF THE
MIND (William Morrow and Company, Inc., 1995), the
devastated Hemingway couldn't conceive of redoing his
work. All those months of arduous writing were simply
wasted.
He lamented his predicament to friend and poet Ezra
Pound who called it a stroke of good fortune! Pound
assured Hemingway that when he rewrote the stories, he
would forget the weak parts; only the best material
would reappear. He encouraged the aspiring author to
start over with a sense of optimism and confidence.
Hemingway did rewrite the stories and eventually became
a major figure in American literature.
Don't pray for fewer problems; pray for more skills.
Don't ask for smaller challenges; ask for greater
wisdom. Don't look for an easy way out; look for the
best possible outcome.
When life gives you a kick, let it kick you forward.
