Today's question is very similar to
a question submitted in March
2003 so if you subscribed then you may
remember it or maybe it now applies to you.
Over the years I found that symptoms come in cycles. The
running remarks when I worked the medical offices after
a day of seeing so many of the same symptoms was; "Satan,
the old devil isn't very smart at inventing new
illnesses and he's boring me to death!" We would see
the same types of symptoms all day long for days on end
and then it would change to another type until he ran
the course or became bored. I never figured out which
and since he is the father of illness we gave him the
credit raves... Sure there would be one or two accidents
or chronic problems mixed in each day but for the most
part all symptoms were things that if left alone would
resolve with a few home remedies or doing nothing.
The doctors use to say if people ever wise up we will go
out of practice. People still aren't wising up to the
fact that they have been brain washed to run to the
doctor for everything! Having said that;
I
answer all health questions to the best of my ability
using what I gleaned from 20-years as a Medical Office
Nurse and Administrator along with my education in
nutritional and alternative modes. I am not a doctor and
you should not think of me as one.
Just lived many years while observing the life and
health of many in the world around me and the
contradictions of the traditional medical world's idea
of treating and that people weren't really getting
healthy so I looked for something to change that...
Steve's Motivator this week, "WHAT

Question:
I vaguely remember a similar situation to
mine being published a few years ago by you but I don't
remember your answer to her and now my doctor has given
me a clean bill of health after a battery of tests, all
negative. Yet I still am having horrific pains in my
arms and legs with burning pains in my chest and
abdomen. I feel like a nut case. Will you reprint your
answer to this problem?
Julieann
ANSWER:
Julieann I like your name as I have a
fantastic granddaughter with the same name and same
spelling... Its nice to know you have been a
reader for so long? That column was back in March of
2003... Here was my answer to her and it should also
apply to you now as nothing has really changed in
traditional medicine?
When all is looked at and no problem is found there
could be a few things more you will need to look at to
find answers here.
First look at your home and work environment. Are
you living or working in new surroundings that could
contain toxic chemicals, such as new carpeting,
wallboard, cabinets, flooring, etc.? If that could be
the case you can find out for sure by taking a long 5 or
6-week vacation away from any of those things and see if
the symptoms subside. Or have you added new room
freshener or detergent in either the wash or kitchen?
Have you changed anything that gives off an odor in your
home? Be a detective. There are no tests to determine
these environmental factors.
Second; Diet is a huge influence on our body and
how we feel. So take a look at the foods you are eating!
We live in such a chemical society that we now eat
fruits, vegetables and meats with all kinds of possible
problems created by the chemicals and/or irradiation.
Fruits and vegetables are now grown with only three
nutrients as their base, as the ground being so
depleted; therefore food is lacking about 81 of its
normal mineral nutrients. Foods are also treated with
pesticides and insecticides while in the fields and
these things are absorbed into the plants and not washed
off therefore we end up eat them. They are picked green
in most instances then put through a chemical wash to
make them appear ripe and contain no nutrient value yet
add more chemicals.
Do you eat a lot of fast food or packaged/processed
foods? If so that alone has the risk of big
problems. Foods could be the catalyst to your problem.
In order to determine that you will need to keep a diary
of what you eat and the symptoms that occur. To do this
accurately you will need to start an elimination diet.
Eliminate the most likely culprits such as, dairy,
wheat, corn, sugar, chocolate, and caffeine drinks -
coffee, tea and colas - also different additives, such
as MSG, yellow dyes, etc. for two weeks. You will need
to read labels to find all the additives. After one
week of not eating those eliminated foods, begin
reintroducing them back into your diet one at a time one
week at a time between adding them. Give your body at
least 2 to 5 days to react. If you don't notice any
changes - congestion, pain, headache, stomach upset,
etc. - then you're probably okay with that particular
food. If you are allergic or sensitive to one of these
foods, your symptoms will likely be stronger than
before. Your body has had a chance to rest from fighting
the food and will now respond stronger than before. Keep
detailed daily notes of each food and how you feel after
eliminating and re-introducing it.
Keep in mind that ingredients are often "hidden" in
foods - like eggs and/or milk in bread. Read ingredient
lists carefully. Furthermore, the various agents that
processors use in foods, such as additives,
preservatives, acidifiers, artificial flavors, and
artificial colors, can also produce an allergic
response, especially in children. Aspartame (NutraSweet)
and MSG are very common offenders that present your
symptoms as well. If there's a certain canned or
processed food you eat regularly, avoid that food while
following the elimination diet, as something in the
processing may be fueling your condition.
Once a sensitivity to a certain food has been
established, double check it by omitting it from the
diet for another week. Then try reintroducing it a
second time. Experiencing adverse reactions for a second
time is a strong indication of a food allergy to it, and
your best bet is to avoid that food altogether or find a
way of desensitizing your system to it. My Naturopath
friend, Dr. Wayne Garland, works with people to overcome
sensitivities and if you wish to work with him to do
that, let me know. It is a very extensive immune
building program.
Along with the food intake comes water! If you are
drinking, cooking or bathing with unfiltered tap water
you could very well be taking someone's medications and
not even know it and your body is reacting to them. Yes,
them as ALL water tables have been found to have
numerous prescribed and OTC drugs in it... If you read
"A Natural Environmental Health Facts ezine regularly
you may remember reading my article "Whose
Drugs Are You Taking? Everybody's Is The Correct
Answer!" a few issues back.
Another possibility; An autoimmune disease that
is regularly overlooked as there are no tests to
determine it exists; Fibromyalgia! See a doctor who is
experienced with fibromyalgia symptoms and have him
check for the markers to determine if fibromyalgia could
be the culprit. My experience with suffering from
fibromyalgia for 30+ years was; traditional medicine has
no real treatment and I have found relief with
alternative medicine.
All of the above scenarios are overlooked by doctors in
trying to ascertain a problem such as yours. Just
because they did not find an existing problem does not
mean that something will not appear in the future. As
long as you are experiencing these symptoms there could
be damage to an organ or system that can show up in the
future. In any of the above cases, I suggest you find a
good Chelationist and have chelation therapy to detox
and repair your body before something serious does pop
up! To find one in your area
Click here to learn about chelation and also find a
chelationist!
Or let Dr. Garland work you up a healthy
herbal/mineral/vitamin protocol to rebuild your body.
Email to get that protocol.
I would be very interested in your detective work and
what you find!

MOTIVATOR
~^~^~^~^~^~^
WHAT IS LOVE?
Diane Ackerman said, "Everyone admits that love is
wonderful and necessary, yet no one agrees on just what it is." Over the
years, I have been learning what it is.
When I first got married, I wanted to show my love to my new wife. I was
drawn to romantic stories like one from the time of Oliver Cromwell in
England where a young soldier had been tried in military court and
sentenced to death. He was to be shot at the "ringing of the curfew
bell." His fiancée climbed up into the bell tower. Several hours before
curfew time and tied herself to bell's huge clapper. At curfew time,
when only muted sounds came out of the bell tower, Cromwell demanded to
know why the bell was not ringing. His soldiers went to investigate and
found the young woman cut and bleeding from being knocked back and forth
against the great bell. They brought her down, and, the story goes,
Cromwell was so impressed with her willingness to suffer in this way on
behalf of someone she loved that he dismissed the soldier saying,
"Curfew shall not ring tonight."
That must be love, I thought! That was the kind of commitment I needed
to make! I wanted to give my all. To tie myself to the bell for her. To
die, if necessary, for her. To sacrifice myself on the altar of true
love! I wanted her to know that I'd give it all up for her.
But she never wanted me to die for her. Never! Clean the toilets, maybe,
but never die. My commitment was to be shown in household chores! (I
read that an exhaustive study showed that no woman ever shot her husband
while he was doing dishes. What a relief. Washing dishes may lack
inspiration, but it says "I love you" better than roses...)
I was never called upon to tie myself to the bell. But I was still
called upon to show my love - in little ways, mostly.
I was needed to comfort her before we were married when the doctor told
her she could never have children; to hold her hand and tell her I
wanted her more than I wanted a family.
I was called upon to sit by her hospital bed after surgery and encourage
her.
I was called upon to hold her after her father died and let her cry.
I was also called upon to carve out alone time with her as often as
possible and to make sure my plans included her as well as me.
I was never needed to prove my undying love through a glorious act of
self-sacrifice. It was something I was required to do in little ways,
through one small act of kindness at a time.
And that, I've learned, is love.
