QUESTION:
Hi Lena,
Please help me understand my fibroids? I'm told that
every woman has them but I don't know how true that is?
Does it prevent a woman getting pregnant? Should I have
them removed or is there a natural treatment to shrink
them?
Thanks.
Illa
ANSWER:
First, I would like to say that Fibroids are almost
never cancerous. This is the fear played on by doctors
in order to perform surgery, usually a hysterectomy. You
will be told that they may develop into cancer therefore
you should have them removed. Not necessary! But is
responsible for the thousands of hysterectomies
performed daily...
Second, they are not in every woman! It's just our foods
no longer give us the nutrients to keep our body healthy
and so they are more prevalent than generations past?
To try and explain what Fibroids are; usually benign
(non-cancerous) growths that appear within the muscle
and connective tissue of the uterus. They usually
develop from a single smooth muscle cell that continues
to grow. There may be one fibroid or several; sometimes
they grow in clusters. Fibroids can vary considerably in
size. A fibroid can be as small as a pea, and most
remain small. Fibroids can grow to be fairly large,
larger than a grapefruit in some cases. Most of the time
fibroids grow slowly but others develop more quickly.
They typically grow larger over time. The size and type
of fibroids varies immensely among women and some are so
small that a microscope is required to see them.
However, on rare occasions, some women experience a
single large fibroid tumor the size of a grapefruit or a
fibroid which is so large it encompasses the entire
abdominal area. Such large tumors can weigh as much as
50 pounds; the largest reported fibroid ever recorded
weighed in at 140 pounds. And only one known!
About 1% of fibroids are responsible for not conceiving
a child. I do know women who have had successful
pregnancies and a healthy baby while also having fibroid
tumors, at the same time with a normal delivery and no
problems. Although most fibroids cause no symptoms, the
estimated 25 percent of women who do have symptoms may
have abnormal bleeding, pain during menstruation, and as
the fibroid tumors grow larger, women will often
experience a swollen abdomen.
Types of Fibroid Tumors are;
Submucous Fibroids; These fibroids occur just
below the lining of the uterus and can cause menstrual
problems, including pain as they grow and move around
the pelvic area.
Intramural Fibroids; A round fibroid most often
within the uterine wall which can cause enlargement of
the uterus as they grow.
Subserous Fibroids; This fibroid grows on the
outer wall of the uterus and usually causes no symptoms
until it grows large enough to interfere with other
organs.
Pedunculated Fibroids; These fibroids develop
when a subserous fibroid grows a peduncle (stalk), as
they grow larger they may become twisted and cause
severe pain.
Interligamentous Fibroid; A fibroid which grows
sideways between the ligaments which support the uterus
in the abdominal region. This type of fibroid is
especially difficult to remove without the possibility
of interfering with the blood supply or other organs. Is
very rare and can be responsible for miscarriage during
a pregnancy.
Parasitic Fibroid; The rarest form of fibroid
tumor occurs when a fibroid attaches itself to another
organ.
The traditional medical world says fibroids are caused
by hormones gone wild and no prevention is available and
surgical removal is necessary for most. And your
question to me "Should I have them removed?" is
not a question I can answer for someone else. I
personally would not given what I know but that is for
you to decide!
The natural world believes them to be caused from
hormone fluctuations without proper mineral content in
the body... Preventable with proper nutritional balance
and shrinkable by the same method, requiring more
aggressive supplementation.
Whose right? That will be debated forever I suppose. We
do know that when birth control pills came on the market
in the early 60's that fibroids soon became more common,
which tells us that hormones do play some kind of roll
in the forming of them. Just how nobody knows as it
hasn't really been studied.
I do know that I watch fibroids disappear under natural
treatment with mineral and hormone balancing. This is
done with herbs and liquid minerals. A special protocol,
designed by Wayne Garland, ND, herbologist, works to
dissolve them. I will be happy to furnish that protocol
if you wish simply email me with your request?
99% of fibroids are not to be feared and are preventable
with supplementing minerals and herbal hormone balancing
formula...
Be smart, eat right, exercise and supplement smartly so
you won't grow them!
Hope this answers your questions,
Lena

THE
LIST
How long would your list be if you took inventory of
your blessings - all of that for which you can give
thanks? For family? For friends? For faith? For health
and the necessities of life? Did you know that some one
million people will die this week ? how is your health?
Those who have food, clothing and shelter have more than
much of our world's population will ever possess. Do you
have these necessities of living?
How long would your list be if you took inventory of
your blessings and added one new item daily? Would you
be amazed at the size of the list?
You have 1,140 minutes in every day. How would your life
be different if you spent just 15 of those minutes daily
giving thanks? Just 15 minutes filling your mind with
concrete examples of how fortunate you are? Most of us
would discover even after a few days that the exercise
was life changing!
Poet Courtland Sayers put it this way:
Five thousand breathless dawns all new;
One million flowers fresh in dew.
Five thousand sunsets wrapped in gold;
One million snowflakes served ice cold.
Five quiet friends, one baby's love;
One white sea of clouds above.
One June night in a fragrant wood;
One heart that loved and understood.
I wondered when I waked that day -
In God's name - how could I ever pay?
Christian mystic Meister Eckhart said, "If the only
prayer you say in your whole life is 'thank you,' that
would suffice." I suspect he is right.

FOOD OF THE WEEK
=================
Alligator Pear!
Nature's whole food! Avocados, nicknamed "alligator pears" because
of their bumpy exteriors, come in several varieties. Some have a
green covering. Others are dark purple or almost black. Some are
smooth, while others are bumpy. Some are small and others weight as
much as four pounds. Yet, when you slice them open, they all have
the same delicious light green, nutty-flavored flesh inside.

The avocado got its name from the ancient Aztec word for "testicle".
Maybe that is why men once thought eating avocados would boost their
virility. In times past, avocado pulp was used as a hair pomade to
stimulate hair growth and to help heal wounds. Native Americans
treated dysentery and diarrhea with its seed. Even today, its oil
can be found in many cosmetics.
The avocado has uses as a natural cosmetic, and is considered a
superior natural sunscreen.
According to legend, a Mayan
princess ate the first avocado in 291 B.C. fortunately; you do not
have to be royalty any longer to reap the rewards of this tasty
tropical fruit.
But the avocado probably should have been named after the Aztec word
for "heart", considering how it can help this vital organ. Loaded
with monounsaturated fat, (speeds up the basal metabolic
rate, as compared with saturated fat) potassium (about 850
mg in a medium size avocado, heart healthy) fiber and
antioxidants, the avocado fights high cholesterol, high
blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Avocados have vitamin E
which helps neutralize free radicals, folate that may lower
homocysteine levels in the blood, and fiber that helps regulate
blood sugar levels. Again, specifically beneficial for people with
diabetes, but healthy for most everyone.
1/5 of an avocado is considered a serving. This small slice contains
55 calories, but they are good calories, but if you eat a half an
avocado you will get 137.5 calories, still quite low. I was told
some years ago that avocado's were not good for people with elevated
cholesterol. I have since found out that isn't true at all... An
avocado contains over 25 vitamins, minerals, fiber and
phytonutrients and can be part of a calorie-reduced diet. Avocados
high fat (the good fat) content gives a quicker feeling of being
"full", thus helping to reduce overeating. Its high (good) fat
content makes an overall sound diet more palatable, reducing the
temptation to binge on foods high in sugars or saturated fats.
Benefits of eating avocados:
- Lowers cholesterol
- Controls blood pressure
- Helps stop strokes
- Battles diabetes
- Combats cancer
- Smoothes skin
One of my favorite ways of
eating avocados other than raw with lemon is guacamole!
2 medium quartered avocados
1 Tbls. lime juice
1 Tbls. Lemon juice
1 - 2 Teaspoons grated onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove crushed garlic.
2 Tbls. mayonnaise
Add all ingredients into a food processor and mix until smooth:
Refrigerate 1 hour prior to serving
I also love my sandwiches with slices of avocado and put avocado
into my salads. This is a multi use food and one that I thoroughly
enjoy!
Enjoy nature's healthy food!
