EDITION!
============================
Just to let you know; I'm not sure that I will be back
from my grandson's graduation next weekend in time to do
next Monday's Ask Lena Health Q & A.
Over the years I found that symptoms come in cycles. The
running remarks when I worked the medical offices after
a day of seeing so many of the same symptoms was; "Satan,
the old devil isn't very smart at inventing new
illnesses and he's boring me to death!" We would see
the same types of symptoms all day long for days on end
and then it would change to another type until he ran
the course or became bored. I have never figured out which
and since he is the father of illness we gave him the
credit raves... Sure there would be one or two accidents
or chronic problems mixed in each day but for the most
part all symptoms were things that if left alone would
resolve with a few home remedies or doing nothing.
The doctors use to say if people ever wise up we will go
out of practice. People still aren't wising up to the
fact that they have been brain washed to run to the
doctor for everything! Having said that;
I
answer all health questions to the best of my ability
using what I gleaned from 20-years as a Medical Office
Nurse and Administrator along with my education in
nutritional and alternative modes. I am not a doctor and
you should not think of me as one.
Just lived many years while observing the life and
health of many in the world around me and the
contradictions of the traditional medical world's idea
of treating and that people weren't really getting
healthy so I looked for something to change that...

Question:
Hi Lena,
I have this one spot on my back about 1/8 inch diameter
and I?m not sure if I should worry? It is soft, red and
raise and just started itching. What do you think?
Janice
Answer:
Janice, I have not yet acquired superwoman powers
that allows me to see a spot on your back by email!
LOL I'm
not laughing at you just want you to stop and realize
I'm not God and can't diagnose absolutes without seeing
the problem and then I'm not a dermatologist so I could
be wrong then!
I can only tell you what I know and you will have to be
the judge of whether to worry or not... Usually red and
itching is nothing more than a new mole forming, but
again without seeing I can't even really venture a good
guess. We get itching spots that come and go at will and
are nothing more than just a nuisance?
But FYI here are some guidelines to follow on skin
abnormalities and you make the distinction.
Ordinary moles, or "nevi," typically appear as evenly
colored (brown, black, tan), round "spots" on the skin.
They can be present at birth, or they may appear at any
time during a person's life. These, while may be
annoying, are not life threatening. I suspect yours
isn't one of the dangerous ones as most never become
cancer but again information FYI? Yours could
simply be a case of a hive breakout that will disappear
on it's own...
But for more
serious thoughts, there are three common types of skin cancers:
* Squamous Cell
* Basal Cell
* Melanoma
Basal and squamous cell
cancers usually occur on parts of the skin that receive
the most prolonged exposure to sunlight, such as the
face, head, necks, arms, and hands. Excessive exposure
to the sun can cause a condition known as actinic
keratosis. Excessive being the operative word there... This skin disorder, which primarily affects
middle-aged and elderly individuals, is characterized by
sharply outlined wart-like or horny growths. Such
growths may appear as rough, red or brown scaly patches
on sun exposed skin.
Actinic keratosis is a
"precancerous" condition; meaning, the cells within the
spot are very abnormal and may become cancerous over
time. This is not a reason to rush in for a doctor's
appointment but should be periodically checked or
removed.
Of course
when sun screens came on the market and became popular
skin cancer increased. Why? That's for the scientist to
figure out and at the moment they give us no definitive
answers but I suspect it has to do with the chemicals in
the sun screens that are much more dangerous than the
sun itself... So excessive sun bathing could be
described as more than an hour in the heat part of the
day and on a daily basis.
Some common indications of early Squamous or basal cell
skin cancers are:
* A firm, red lump
* A pale, smooth, shiny or "waxy" lump
* Sore that doesn't heal and begins oozing or bleeding
* Sore or rough red spot that becomes scaly or crusty
* Colored spot that becomes itchy, tender, or painful
after a period of not having been those things.
* Spot that becomes red and/or swollen that wasn't
before.
* Mole that grows or otherwise changes its appearance
* Black mole should always be checked out regardless!
Characteristics of the most feared and dangerous
Melanoma Skin cancer is;
*When one half of the mole does not match the
other half.
*Border Irregularity - The edges of the mole are
jagged or notched.
*Irregular Coloration - There is no overall color
conformity of the mole; parts may be varying shades of
black, brown, or tan, with white, red, or even blue
splotches.
* Diameter - Most melanomas are wider than 6
millimeters (1/4 inch), although some may range between
3 millimeters (approx 1/8 inch) and 6 millimeters
(approx. 1/4 inch) in size.
There are always exceptions to these rules but if you
should have a spot, sore or mole that is sore for more
than a couple of weeks, see your dermatologist!
Some alternative treatments for spot, sores or moles
before they become cancerous are;
~ build a healthy immune system.
~ Spray the spot with Ionic Silver Water three times a
day and take 1 Tablespoon internally twice a day for two
to three weeks. Silver water can be obtained online by
Clicking Here...
~ And/or vigorously rub Castor Oil into it three times a
day until the spot has subsided for at least a week.
Most usually that type of itching, raised spots are
nothing but once in a while they can become something.
The best way to assure that doesn't happen is to have
your body's immune system in the best possible shape. To do that
requires DAILY; getting plenty of sleep and rest, a good
diet - that means no frequent eating of fast or
prepackaged foods - take a
balanced minerals supplement that will allow your
body to absorb the nutrients it needs from the foods
you eat along with a good
MegaNutrient Vitamin supplement, liquid, powder or
capsule, never pill form...
You probably have nothing to worry about but I have
given you some things to think about and watch for.
Good Luck,
Lena

HURRY SICKNESS
One woman tells how she sought to convince her
continually harried friend that she needed to find ways to relax. So she
gave her a videotape on stress management and relaxation techniques and
encouraged her to watch it right away.
Fifteen minutes later, her friend handed back the tape. "It was good,"
she said, "but I don't need it."
"But it's a 70-minute video," the woman replied. "You couldn't have
watched the whole thing."
"Yes, I did," her friend assured her. "I put it on fast-forward."
A major social problem of the 21st Century is Hurry Sickness. We hurry
through work by "multi-tasking." We gulp down fast food. We shop at
convenience stores. We lament that we haven't enough time. We race
through the days and weeks until one day we look back in amazement and
comment, "My, how the years flew by." Or until we hit a "speed bump" --
like illness -- that stops us cold. Then we realize the heavy toll we
paid to travel the express lane.
Hurry Sickness. Its symptoms include stress and anxiety, ailing
relationships, lowered work performance and numerous physical maladies.
Some people don't survive it.
What is the cure? "For fast-acting relief try slowing down," quipped
comedian Lily Tomlin. But then, perhaps that's not so funny. Slow down
and live, for life is too short to be lived fast, and too precious not
to be lived well.
"I have no time to be in a hurry," said John Wesley. And he accomplished
more than most of us ever will! Maybe it's time to slow down ... and
live well.
