I answer all health questions to
the best of my ability using what I gleaned from
20-years as a Medical Office Nurse and Administrator
along with my education in
nutritional and alternative modes. I am not a doctor and
you should not think of me as one.
Just lived many years while observing
the life and health of many in the world
around me...
Q & A is for your information and education only and in
some instances to give you a different perspective on a
particular problem!
My wish for you, in the use of the information gained
here, is that you will apply it in a smart and safe
manner in order to enhance your life and not harm it!
Not to be used in place of your judgment but in
addition to... Even though I daily watch people become
healthy with the information imparted nothing works 100%
of the time for 100% of people...
I have always felt that I had to know all sides to a
problem and then make a decision for myself and I hope
that will be your attitude as well!

TWO
GREAT FOLLOW UP REPORTS:
This week is a bit different format. These two did not
initially give me authorization to publish their health consult
requests in
the ezine but now say I can pass on their resulting good
news!
I cannot say
that everyone who follows our suggestions get these
results as some people never let us know one way or the
other I do know the majority do!
#1 testimony of success!
For background on this particular guy! He called me
wanting any ideas I had for eliminating migraine
headaches. He was having daily migraines and had reached
the end of his rope so to speak. I went for prevention versus relief yet
expecting relief. He was one of the extreme migraine
cases but not the only one I work with. When I gave him
his protocol he really didn't believe it would work
thinking it extreme and rather archaic. He didn't try
the whole thing in the beginning but did achieve less
intense headaches by taking just the supplements and
minerals. The part that got him was coffee enemas twice
a week for a month... Finally after deciding he couldn't
live with the headaches any longer and since the
supplements helped he figured maybe I knew something he
didn't know so he did the first coffee enema and the
results have been phenomenal!
Dear Lena,
I cannot thank you enough! Even though I gave you such
grief and complained and didn't follow your advice for
such a long time it finally came down to "what have I got
to lose?" and "Try it and see" after suffering 25 plus
years with migraines and reaching the point in my 47
years of life that a day without a migraine was unusual.
I really thought it was the foods I ate since everything
seemed to trigger another headache and the doctor
renforced that belief. I now believe your assessment of
them being rebound headaches from the years of
prescriptions and OTC drugs and lack of natural flora in
my system were
probably correct. I still have a hard time taking the Digestive
Enzymes, Mind Power and Tolerance without burping them
up later, the taste of those liquid minerals is "Gosh
Awful" but I've found a juice that masks the taste fairly
well. I know it's a small price to pay for not having
headaches but the real relief didn't come until after
the first coffee enema. I had a whole week without a
migraine, which had not happened for at least a year, so
I didn't do the second one that week. Big mistake on my
part, headache back! Then I decided I would go your whole
suggested rout of two a week. Now
that I've done four of the enemas I have not had a
headache since. I cannot tell you how great that is. I
feel like a new person... I am rebuilding the natural
flora with the Probiotic you recommended. I figure I will wait a while
before starting the Skeletal Support and Structural
Lubrication, but go ahead and send them now and I will
start them. If they will strengthen my arteries and
veins like you say they will that should be one more
assurance to helping keep the headaches away.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
Jerry

This 70 year-old man's daughter called me a little over
a year ago wanting help as her dad had been diagnosed
with cancer and had been given 3 to 6 months to live. He
was refusing chemotherapy and radiation because he had
lost his wife to chemotherapy treatments for cancer the
previous year. The cancer did not get a chance to kill
her before the treatments did. So they knew the dangers
of chemo and chose to say no! Beside that they told him
the chemo treatments might only extend his life a few
weeks. So he chose not to be ill from the chemo for
those few months. I had his daughter call Dr. Garland
and he set up a cancer natural
nutritional/herbal/mineral protocol for her dad. It took
about week to get him all his supplements and
instructions. I have to tell you this guy drove me nuts
for the first few months complaining and trying to
change his protocol to suite his desires but we
prevailed and he reluctantly did what he was told. At
the end of nine months he was feeling great, lots of
energy and living
beyond his traditional doctor's expectations so he celebrated
still being alive and feeling well with a
2 week cruise... Last week, one year and one week after
starting his alternative protocol, I received the
following:
Dear Lena,
Thank you just doesn't seem enough for what you and Dr.
Garland have
given me. Life! Lena thank you for putting up with my
complaining and fighting you for my selfish wants. I
received my AIMS test result today and I am now CANCER
FREE. My doctors are mystified but I'm not. I gave you
such grief you could have given up on me but you didn't
and I will forever be grateful. Since the cancer was
throughout my body I was sure I would never be cancer
free but you have proven me and the doctors wrong. I
would like to shout it from the house top but most
skeptics would never believe it anyway but I know and so
does my family and friends. My energy level came up
almost immediately after starting your protocol yet I
was still skeptical and until I reached the nine months
still feeling great and started to think maybe it was
possible to beat this demon I still doubted you. I also
know I cannot let my guard down even now and will
continue my supplements and minerals as well as my
healthy diet and expect to live a normal life, but I'm
not worried. I would like to invite you both to my
wedding. Yes, I found a wonderful lady who has agreed to
marry me but it wouldn't even be possible without your
natural cancer fighting protocol and sticking with me
when I was so rotten to you. THANK YOU!
God bless and keep up the good work,
Ed

MOTIVATOR

A CHOICE FOR
PEACE
Photographer Nick Ut received a
Pulitzer Prize for a dramatic war-time picture taken in
Viet Nam. You may remember seeing it. The picture shows
a little girl in agony walking naked down a country road
amongst other weeping children. Dark smoke hangs heavily
in the sky behind the fleeing group. The child's arms
are painfully outstretched and her face is contorted in
an expression of terror and misery. A Napalm bomb,
dropped on her village, seared off the little girl's
clothing and severely burned her skin.
The date is June 8, 1972. The child, Kim Phuc, was
carried by Nick to a truck and transported to an area
hospital. She cried over and over, "Non'g Qu'a. Non'g
Qu'a," which means "Too hot! Too hot!"
Kim hovered between life and death. She required 17
different surgical operations and months of
rehabilitation. Today, she lives in Canada and has
become an important spokesperson on issues of peace.
"Pain never disappears," Kim says. "You just learn how
to deal with it."
In 1996 she was asked to say a few words at the Viet Nam
War Memorial in Washington D.C. Kim talked about
forgiving those people who were responsible for all the
misery and suffering inflicted that tragic day. She
said, "Even if I could talk face to face with the pilot
who dropped the bombs, I would tell him we cannot change
history but we should try to do good things for the
present and for the future to promote peace." It was a
message of forgiveness. She knew that her acts of
reconciliation were the bricks that could pave the only
true road to peace.
Kim could easily spend the rest of her life blaming
others for her suffering. She could have grown up a
bitter and resentful woman. Instead, she made a
courageous choice - a choice for peace.
It's a choice none of us can escape.

FOOD OF THE WEEK
=================
Citrullis lanatus!
Last week I covered one melon and since this is my husband's
favorite melon and you will find parts of it in our refrigerator at
the first hint of warm weather until the first hint of fall?
Found at road side stands, in gardens and stores in abundance this
time of the year? As a child around Phoenix, where melon fields were
abundant but is now houses, we use to walk to a field and pick a
couple of melons, throw them in the canal then run home and wait to
pick them out of the water and have them nice and cool, serving two
purposes? Didn't have to carry them and they were cool enough to eat
when we pulled them from the water?
Green on the outside and red or yellow on the inside! Nothing says
summer like this subtly crunch, thirst quenching fruit. A nutritious
food best eaten alone without other foods in the stomach.

Although watermelons can now be found in the markets throughout the
year, the season for watermelon is the summer when they are sweet
and of the best quality. More Watermelon will probably be eaten next
weekend, July 4th, than any other time in the U.S. It is
almost a ritual in multitude of homes?
Watermelons are low in calories and very nutritious. Recent research
suggests that lycopene, found most abundantly in red meated melon, a
powerful antioxidant, helps prevent some forms of cancer and
cardiovascular disease. Research shows that consuming foods that
contain lycopene are associated with a decreased risk of prostate
and cervical cancer.
Watermelon is related to the cantaloupe, squash and pumpkin as well
as some other plants that grow on ground vines. Watermelons can be
round, oblong or spherical in shape and feature thick green rinds
that are often spotted or striped. They range in size from a few
pounds to upward of ninety pounds. The biggest watermelon grown
according to the 1996 Guiness Book of World Records weighed in at
262 pounds!
Health Benefits
While the watermelon does not contain a large amount of nutrients it
still is considered a healthy food! This delectable thirst-quencher
may also help quench the inflammation that contributes to conditions
like asthma, atherosclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and arthritis.
According to research conducted at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, men who consumed a lycopene-rich diet were half as
likely to suffer a heart attack as those who had little or no
lycopene in their diets. Red meat watermelon is rich in lycopene,
second only to the tomato.
Watermelon is also high in vitamin C and vitamin A, in the form of
disease-fighting beta carotene.
Watermelon also contains potassium, which is known to help control
blood pressure and possibly prevent strokes as well as necessary for
a regular heart beat.
Watermelon is not a commonly allergenic food, is not included in the
list of 20 foods that most frequently contain pesticide residues,
and is also NOT KNOWN to contain goitrogens, oxalates, or purines.
Many new varieties of watermelons have been developed in recent
years. Yellow and seedless types are finding an increasing share of
the specialty watermelon market. Small excellent quality "icebox"
melons are also becoming increasingly popular.
WATERMELON VARIETIES; Seedless yellow: Seedless red: Yellow flesh,
seeded: Red flesh, seeded: Tiny heart only melons, red flesh:
"Seedless" marketing note: "Seedless" varieties may have some seeds,
especially in the first fruits set if the plant is under moisture or
temperature stress.
Choosing the right watermelon!
Look the watermelon over, choose a firm, symmetrical
watermelon that is free of bruises, cuts and dents.
Lift it up - the watermelon should be heavy for its size.
Watermelon is 92% water, that accounts for most of its weight.
Turn it over - on the underside of the watermelon there
should be a creamy yellow spot from where it sat on the ground and
ripened in the sun.
Following these tips will help you pick the best watermelon
available.
History
Originating in Africa, watermelons were first cultivated in
Egypt where testaments to their legacy were recorded in
hieroglyphics painted on building walls. The fruit was held is such
regard that it was placed in the tombs of many Egyptian kings. It is
not surprising that watermelon played such an important role in this
country, and subsequently in countries in the Mediterranean region,
since water was often in short supply in these areas, and people
could depend upon watermelon for its thirst-quenching properties.
Watermelons were brought to China around the 10th century and then
to the Western Hemisphere shortly after the discovery of the New
World. In Russia, where much of the commercial supply of watermelons
is grown, there is a popular wine made from this fruit. In addition
to Russia, the leading commercial growers of watermelon include
China, Turkey, Iran and the United States.
Tips for Preparing Watermelon:
Wash the watermelon before cutting it to prevent introducing germs
into the melon on cutting. Due to its large size, you will probably
not be able to run it under water in the sink. Instead, wash it with
a wet cloth or paper towel.
Depending upon the size that you desire, there are many ways to cut
a watermelon. The flesh can be sliced, cubed or scooped into balls.
Watermelon is delicious to eat as is, while it also makes a
delightful addition to a fruit salad. Jam, sorbet and juice are some
nutritious and delicious things you can make with watermelon.
While many people are just accustomed to eating the juicy flesh of
the watermelon, both the seeds and the rind are also edible.
My mother use to make a melon rind preserves that was
interesting and tasty;
Ingredients:
For 4 lbs. (11 cups) of the melon rind, still containing some of the
red meat, make a syrup of:
9 cups of sugar
8 cups water
4 lemons, sliced
4 tsps. stick cinnamon
4 tsps. cloves (tie spices in cheesecloth bag)
Directions:
Select melons with thick rinds. Peel off all green portion using
only the white and red part of the rind. Cut into small dice. Soak
in mild salt water overnight (1/2 cup salt to 1 gallon water).
Drain, rinse and cook in clear water for about 30 minutes or until
tender. Drain well.
Boil the syrup, lemon and spices 5 minutes before adding the rinds.
Add rinds and cook until transparent and clear. (If desired, a few
minutes before preserves are done add small amount of vegetable
green or red food coloring to tint preserves.) Remove spice bag,
pour into sterilized pint Jars and wash and seal each jar as filled.
Enjoy!
