Today's question on an alternative for Fosamax has other repercussions and feel I should publish the question for those who are in the dark and taking such bone drugs.

I answer all health questions to the best of my ability using what I gleaned from 20-years as a Medical Office Nurse and Administrator along with my education in nutritional and alternative modes along with my friendship with Dr. Wayne Garland for many years now. I am not a doctor and you should not think of me as one. Just lived many years while observing the life and health of many in the world around me and the contradictions of the traditional medical world's idea of treating and watching those same schooled methods that weren't relieving illness and creating far more than they helped and people weren't told how to get healthy or prevent illness so I looked for something to change that premise and found and continue to find alternatives that really work when adhered to...

HI, Lena!
I really don't mean to be a pest, but I've got yet another question for you. In one of your last ezines (not sure which one), was a testimonial from someone who was using an alternative remedy for bone density problems, and had outstanding results with it. My Mother, who just turned 78, has been using Fosamax, and is concerned with recent revelations that it can be harmful to use. What exactly is the product this gentleman was using? I'd like to forward Mom the information. She hates computers, so I'd have to snail mail it to her. She lives in Sun City West, AZ; a bit further south from you.

Hi Gerry, not a pest...

Since so many are now taking bisphosphonates prescription this is a very valid question that many are not aware of, so I'm including Gerry's question here:

The information that Gerry refers to;

In order to balance the loss of bone density caused by disease, aging, or osteoporosis, many doctors prescribe a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates. These medications are commonly marketed as Fosamax, Aredia, Zometa, Boniva and Actonel. The most common recipients of these types of drugs are women in their late 40's and older who have reached menopause and have begun to experience loss of bone density due to the aging process. In addition, some chemotherapy treatments for cancer that has advanced into the bones include bisphosphonates.

Use of these medications has recently been linked to cases of jaw bone decay or osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ). ONJ or "dead jaw" is a rare bone disease in which the jaw bone deteriorates and dies. To repair jaw bone damage, a painful surgery is required to remove dying bone tissue. Side effects include jaw pain, numbness, exposed oral bones, loss of teeth, and infection.

The discovery of this link, published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, prompted both the US Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) and Novartis, the manufacturer of bisphosphonates used in cancer chemotherapy, to issue a warning letter or alert on September 24, 2004 containing information about bisphosphonates and alerting health care professionals to the dangers and risks of osteonecrosis of the jaw. There has not been a recall and the drugs have not been withdrawn from the market.

Since 2001, more than 2,400 patients have reported bone death in their jaws after taking one of these medications to prevent or treat bone loss. Most of these patients were taking potent, intravenously delivered forms of the drugs. However patients taking the pill form have experienced ONJ as well. In many cases, those patients who were taking the drugs in pill form have suffered from such debilitating pain that they have become bedridden or in need of walkers, crutches or wheelchairs.

Fosamax, one of the bisphosphonates noted above and manufactured by Merck & Co., was recently shown, in a study conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to carry with it a higher incidence of osteonecrosis of the jaw or ONJ than other bisphosphonates. There is also evidence to suggest that Merck may have failed to promptly update its Fosamax label to report the danger, thereby causing millions of users to be at an unnecessary risk of developing the condition.

The other drug companies who make bisphosphonates have quietly released information that should have the doctors taking women off any of the bisphosphonates but since it isn't really broadcasted most doctors are totally unaware of the release.

Those problems occur simply because those drugs block areas of the body that is necessary for health. That is what most all prescription man-made drugs do therefore setting the body up for more problems in the future that may or may not be worse than the original one...

To replace Fosamax Aredia, Zometa, Boniva or Actonel -
Life Transfusion Liquid Minerals 1 teaspoon morning and noon and 1/2 teaspoon around 4 or 5 pm
Bone Strength Bone Density 3 caps three times a day for 3 months then may be able to decrease  to 3 morning and night, depending on how well it works for her and how well she absorbs things... Work like a charm but will take 3 to 6 months to see great improvement in the bone rebuilding...

CONFESSION IS GOOD FOR THE BODY?

A hot, new business capitalizes on people's need to 'fess up, as well as their interest in eaves-dropping on the confessions of others.

A fee-based phone services and Web sites allow customers to record their confessions anonymously - anything from admissions of petty theft to adultery and even murder. Or, those who are inclined can listen to or read the edited sordid tales of others. (This is where the real money is made, by the way.)

After the first year of business, one such service, The Confession Line, reportedly made 17 million dollars. Plans were implemented to expand from 25 telephone lines to 100. The need to confess is pandemic!

But if confession is "good for the soul," it is also good for the body. Why? What we hide inside eats us up.

Researcher James Pennebaker studied health benefits of confession. Some people's secrets literally make them sick. He discovered that criminals who confessed to lie detector technicians were often so grateful for the physical relief they felt after "getting it all out," that they sent birthday, holiday and thank you cards to the polygraph
personnel who heard their stories.

Perhaps the bigger problem is that our secret IS our sickness. What we hide is what hurts us. Whether it is big or small, past or present, that which we carefully conceal from the rest of the world is our sickness. And we won't begin to recover until what is concealed is revealed.

The prescription? Bring it up and bring it out into the open. You can't bring out what you don't bring up. Do it for your body's sake; for your mind's sake; for your soul's sake.

Bring it up and bring it out. You may be surprised that others are quicker to understand your misdeed than you are even to admit it! And at least when you get it off your chest, you'll have one less burden to carry as you make amends!
