ASK LENA Q & A
EDITION!
===========================
The answers
to questions submitted each week come from my 20+ years as a Medical Office Nurse along
with ongoing education in nutritional and alternative
treatment modes. Add that to
many years of friendship with Dr. Wayne Garland,
a very knowledgeable naturopath and herbologist, who
many years ago, beat his cancer death sentence given by
the traditional medical world, has helped along the
alternatives
path and
hopefully help to give hope to those who need it... Also
receiving a lot of study reports and try to ascertain
if they are good or bad then report them to you, which
has increased my knowledge along the way and I pass them on to you to
use or not...
I am not a doctor or dentist and you should not think of
me as one!!
My years observing life and health of the many
people/patients around me and the contradictions of the
traditional medical world's idea of treating -
prescription domino effect - while watching those same
schooled methods that aren't relieving illness but
creating far more than they help. Those same medical
professionals aren't telling people how to get healthy
or how to prevent illness, which led me to look for
something to change that premise for myself and those
around me. In looking outside the Westernized medical
profession I found and continue to find alternatives
that really work to create health and longevity -when
adhered to - beyond anything the traditional medical
world can do...
Ask Lena Health Questions and Answers is for your
information and education only and in some instances to
give you a different perspective on a particular
problem! My wish for you, in the use of the information
gained here, is that you will apply it in a smart and
safe manner in order to enhance your life and not harm
it! Not to be used in place of your judgment but in
addition to... Even though I daily watch people become
healthy with the information imparted here nothing works
100% of the time for 100% of people...
I have always felt that I had to know all sides to a
problem and then make a decision for myself and I hope
that will be your attitude as well!

QUESTION:
I am 48 years old, female I am currently
taking simvesatan for high cholesterol - I have been
experiencing cramps in my feet severe enough to actually
begin to twist my toes this normally happens at night
when my feet are up on the bed. I have to jump out of
bed and walk around until it stops. Then in the past 4
days I've been having a pain on my left upper side
(back) near my rib cage - if this is a kidney stone is
there anything that I can do?
I have also been battling with my weight - I lost (2) of
my sons (one in a car accident & one was murdered) in
the past year. The stress and lack of sleep has taken
its toll - my doctor originally put me on Luxipro which
helped however I'm not one for prescriptions so after
about 7 months I took myself off. I was diagnosed with
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome x 2 - I feel like I'm
doing pretty good with the exception of one thing - when
I get nervous for some reason my voice begins to shake
as if I'm afraid. (anxiety?) Unfortunately, my weight
has increase about 25 lbs and I can't get it down.
I'm not sure if these are all intertwined but if I can
take an alternative for this I will

ANSWER:
Thank you for the question.
Since you did not mention blood pressure medication I am
assuming you are not taking any of those, which are even
worse nutrient depleting drugs and most of the time is
the beginning of cholesterol numbers rising. If you are
taking blood pressure medication that will slightly
change my recommendations and I need to know.
Sadly your pain - both back and feet - is most likely
directly related to the Simvestatin as it is a nutrient drain on the body,
especially minerals. Statin drugs are killer drugs....
When the body is lacking minerals pain occurs in
different areas and sometimes all the joints and
especially areas of the back... So-called Charley Horses
(muscle spasms) can be eliminated when a minerals
balance is given back to the body... With minerals
depletion the heart gradually begins a decline and will
eventually be done in because of its lacking the
necessary minerals to keep it working. That is most
likely why all those drugs have heart warnings on
them...
If your cholesterol was below 250 before given the
Simvestatin prescription, you don't really need to take
a cholesterol lowering medication. Before the
cholesterol target number was lowered, by the drug
industry, people were doing well and death and strokes
did not happen near as often as since they have started
the onslaught of cholesterol lowering medication
prescriptions...
That said here are my recommendations:
To help with the back pain; First, just in case it is a
kidney stone you can do a natural juice to dissolve it. Take 8 organic beets, 2 organic apples (any kind) juice
beets and then apples and mix together add 1/4
teaspoon
Liquid Balanced Minerals to 8 ounces of the juice
and drink a glass every 3 or 4 hours until gone.
This works every time, if it is kidney stones, also
works with gall stones... If the pain hasn't subsided by
the end of the day with kidney dissolving juice then it
most likely isn't kidney stones. Next on that list would
be a need for a strong Probiotic as the
medications - both Simvestatin and Luxipro - kill
the natural flora and gastric acids in your stomach and
intestines along with draining your system of minerals,
which can cause the same type of pain. My suggestion is
Proactivator/Probiotic or
Primal
Defense. 1 with each meal and 2 at bedtime on an
empty stomach, which should squelch the back pain.
Your body does not make minerals nor are minerals in our
foods in the quantity needed. So to bring your minerals
into a balanced amount that will stop the feet
cramps and body pains,
Life
Transfusion Ionic Liquid Minerals will do the trick;
The following doses should apply unless you choose to do
the
7-Day Cleansing Diet.
DOSE:
Week One - 1/2 teaspoon in a 6 to 8 ounce glass of
juice - mixed well - (either carrot, tomato, beet,
orange/pineapple, lemonade or V8) twice a day, morning
and early afternoon before 4PM.
Week Two - 3/4 teaspoon in a 6 to 8 ounce glass of
juice (either carrot, tomato, beet, orange/pineapple, or
V8) twice a day, morning and early afternoon before 4PM.
Week Three and thereafter - 1 teaspoon in a 6
to 8 ounce glass of juice (either carrot, tomato, beet,
orange/pineapple, or V8) twice a day, morning and early
afternoon before 4PM. If this amount causes really
loose stools from detoxing then add 1 teaspoon of
Psyllium Fiber to each glass, mix well and drink fast.
If your body has sufficient Probiotic this will most
likely not happen.
If your cholesterol level was running 250 to 300
before you were prescribed Simvestatin then you should
be doing something to lower it. To do that I recommend
two things -
Cholesteine Master Formula - 2 to 3 capsules 15
to 20 minutes before meals (the amounts depends on
how high your cholesterol was) - along with
Nattokinase - 1 morning and evening and the 7-day
Cleansing Diet.
The loss of your sons has thrown your body into a
shock that needs to be brought back into balance and
because of your age there are two things working to keep
your depression going you are in what we call
perimenopause or premenopause - this occurs anywhere
from 5 to 8 years before menopause, the body
starts slowing down both the thyroid and female
hormone/testosterone producing systems. These systems
need to be brought into balance to help you overcome the PTSD that is made more severe because of those changes.
Your weight gain is proof that is happening...
To get
into balance;
Along with the above add:
Thyroid Energy capsules 2 morning and 2 evening
on empty stomach for first couple of weeks OR if you
notice hand tremors or more anxiety then usual, then
lower it to 1 capsule morning and evening. Also
Balanced Woman 40+ formula - start with 1 capsule
three times a day. This dose may need to be upped
depending on how your body reacts. A few women have to
take 3 capsules three times a day, but an in between
dose of 1 or 2 capsules three times a day works for
most. Some even have been able to only take 3 morning
and 3 evening successfully. Finally for the adrenal
system damage done by the PTSD take
Stress-X Tolerance formula 2 morning and 3 one
hour before bedtime to help the adrenal system
recover and calm down..
Liver cleansing greens and other raw unprocessed foods
are a necessary daily diet. Stay away from dairy, red
meats and fried foods as those will make your situation
more difficult... Food is medicine. If you wish to speed
up your progress consider starting with the
7-Day
Cleansing Diet
Get at least one big green salad a day with balsamic vinegar or
lemon juice and oil dressing. Whole wheat breads not
white bread as the whole wheat helps remove the
cholesterol... Stay away from white foods, anything
containing white flour or white sugar.
Walk as fast as possible, as often as possible
throughout the day. If at all possible take a 30 to 45
minute walk every day.
Give it a 3 month try we are available daily
if questions or concerns arise...

A MONSTER TO HUG
One couple spent a holiday driving in the
mountains. "Every time you race around one of those
narrow curves," exclaimed the wife, "I just get
terrified."
"Then do what I do," suggested her husband. "Close your
eyes!"
We are all afraid at times, but closing our eyes may not
be the best way through fear. I've found it better to
open my eyes and try to experience those fears.
You've heard of facing your fears; how about embracing
them?
I think one man's experience with fear can help.
In 1972 David Miln Smith had such an opportunity. Smith,
an adventurer, author and professional speaker, decided
to spend a night alone in the famous St. Michael's Cave
on the island of Gibraltar as a test of courage. In his
book HUG THAT MONSTER (Andrews and McMeel, 1996), he
tells of hearing strange sounds all around him as he lay
there in the pitch-black, damp, deserted cave. Most
frightening was the fact that he came to believe he was
not alone!
Fear became panic and he was afraid he was losing his
mind. Then suddenly, as he was approaching his
psychological breaking point, Smith thought to himself,
"Whatever the monster looks like, I will hug it." That
simple, almost silly thought brought great relief to his
restless mind. He soon fell into a deep and peaceful
sleep until morning. He learned that embracing his fear,
literally or figuratively, allowed him to subdue it.
We each have our nights of fear, don't we? We all
encounter monsters of some sort. We may fear spiders or
insects, heights or crowds, abandonment or loneliness,
the future or death. And most of us are occasionally
visited by shadows of these monsters in the dark of
night.
The next time you're afraid, try "hugging the monster."
Face it and embrace it. It's hard to feel afraid of
something you're hugging! And you just might be
surprised at how quickly it slips away and at how
confident you begin to feel.
That beautiful spirit Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You gain
strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in
which you stop to look fear in the face." But after
looking it in the face, how about embracing it? Just
imagine yourself putting your arms around whatever is
keeping you awake in the night. Make it your friend.
because it is! Whatever you fear, once faced and
embraced, will actually make you a better person.
Now. do you have a monster to hug?
