Today's question has been asked in various forms over the last couple of years and needs to be reiterated off and on for those who don't ask...

"I am plagued by gum disease and am tired of spending time and so very much money at the dentist office. Is there a way of preventing this from continuing?"

My 20+ years as a Medical Office Nurse along with my ongoing education in nutritional and alternative treatment modes helps me to answer health questions and hopefully to give hope to those who need it... My many years of friendship with Dr. Wayne Garland, a very knowledgeable naturopath and herbologist, who, many years ago, beat his cancer death sentence given by the traditional medical world has helped me along this path. I also receive a lot of study reports and try to ascertain if they are good or bad and report them to you has increased my knowledge and agilities and I pass them on to you to use or not...

I am not a doctor or dentist and you should not think of me as one!!
My years observing life and health of the many people/patients around me and the contradictions of the traditional medical world's idea of treating - prescription domino effect - while watching those same schooled methods that aren't relieving illness but creating far more than they help. Those same medical professionals aren't telling people how to get healthy or how to prevent illness, which led me to look for something to change that premise for myself and those around me. In looking outside the Westernized medical profession I found and continue to find alternatives that really work to create health and longevity -when adhered to - beyond anything the traditional medical world can do...

Thank you for your question Serena...

I am not a dentist but I do know that if natural health prevention is practiced good dental health follows and there are things that you can do daily to promote healthy teeth and gums...
 
Sadly gum disease is a very common problem in this day of fast food, poor nutrition in what little healthy amounts most people eat... I'm also beginning to think the tooth pasts and tooth gels have a lot to do with it... I have no scientific proof of this but my experience says that's a problem. I too spent twenty years in and out of the dentist offices even with my healthy diet and brushing regularly I still had to endure several bouts with gum cutdowns and roots scaling but no long term improvement. Then I decided to forgo commercial toothpaste/gel, started swishing and swallowing Ionic Silver Water three times a day and got rid of the last bout with gum inflammation and have not seen the dentist since...
 
Inflammation of the gums is the biggest danger with gum disease causing bone/root loss and that can be combated by keeping your body free of inflammation/infections. I also started using Tooth Soap. Sounds strange but it seems to really be a great help in prevention of gum inflammation when used regularly - brush two to three times a day.
 
In Answer to your question and some suggestions for you to try;
 
First; make sure your body has the necessary amounts and all the necessary types of Probiotics (Read Your Amazing Ecosystem to understand that) to help prevent and kill invading inflammation and stop it from spreading throughout your body. Unbalanced probiotics in the body is one of the most overlooked forms of health today!

Second requires a balance of minerals - Read the ABC"s of Minerals to understand why - to assure absorption of the necessary vitamins obtained by your foods while building strong bones and organs of the body promoting a healthy immune system to fight such inflammation before it begins... Minerals for overall health has been established as well as many minerals missing in ALL CANCER AND AUTOIMMUNE patients, according to most all studies in the last twenty years...

Third, make sure your diet is healthy, which includes raw fruits and vegetables daily, stay away from processed and dairy foods as they promote inflammatory conditions... Should you have active inflammation/infection have Ionic Silver Water around to swish and swallow twice a day to eradicate that...

Fourth, practice good eating habits! Kill the urge to ?drive through? as fast foods have no nutrients to nourish your body and will create the atmosphere for your body to grow inflammatory or infectious problems...

Now for bone strengthening; The teeth are bone! I'm sure you hear and see reports of calcium intake ? a mineral - for bone building. That is true up to a point, it requires much more than just taking calcium to assure healthy bones. Dairy consumption is touted as the ultimate bone building food, when in reality it is weakening bones with its hormones and chemicals and homogenizing out all the nutrients. Another cause of bone loss is taking manmade anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) such as Advil, Aleve, Motrin, aspirin, etc., as well as certain other prescribed medications.. Those are not bone builders or repairers but masks for the true problem and at the same time depleting the system of the necessary minerals, especially calcium and magnesium, which are necessary for strong bone health, while depleting other nutrients such as Vitamin D, K all creating an atmosphere for bone loss... Then add antibiotic consumption off and on throughout life, another nutrient depleting substance, and you have severe bone problem possibilities along with killing the good body bacteria within the stomach and intestines, making absorption difficult and in lots of people absolutely impossible.
 
Dairy intake is touted as a necessity for healthy bones and teeth yet a couple of my sister's are prime examples of that very thing is erroneous. They have consumed at least a quart or more of milk every day for most of their life. A very young sister #2 developed arthritis symptoms and started taking anti-inflammatories as her doctor told her to do. Starting in her twenties she suffered several bone fractures and continues to do so from time to time along with severe muscle and bone pain that raised their heads in her 30?s. She opted for more anti inflammatories and surgery to treat those fractures. Sister #1 lost all her teeth at age 22... I have not been able to convince either one on of the necessity to stop milk consumption or discontinuing the NSAIDs. Sister number two continues with bone and muscle problems and is now having severe dental problems in danger of losing all her teeth... Sadly for her she is of the opinion that her "doctor's know best!"
 
Bones can be strengthened with natural, healthy herbal/mineral supplements. My favorites are; Bone Density Strength herbal formula and of course everyone in the world over the age of 10 should be taking a balanced mineral liquid complex daily...  These two can create a strong bone program but in those who have or have had bad diets and more severe osteoporosis or chronic bone and joint problems it would be necessary to follow Dr. Wayne Garland's bone/joint herbal repair kit

That said; Even with doing all these things it is still necessary to brush, twice a day, and floss your teeth daily. It is also necessary to use healthy tooth cleaning products without fluoride...
 
People who have chronic gum/bone/joint problems tend to have digestive problems as well... And digestive problems are the first warning sign that your probiotic and minerals balance is off and if you get both back in balance digestive problems will most likely disappear... If left to be a long term problem or take prescribed acid suppressants you will end up with more severe and chronic illness later on...

DRIVING AWAY THE SHADOWS

When Abraham Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865, he was carrying two pairs of spectacles and a lens polisher, a pocketknife, a watch fob, a linen handkerchief, and a brown leather wallet containing a five-dollar Confederate note and several newspaper clippings on the Lincoln presidency.

Why did he keep the newspaper clippings? Some of them extol his achievements as president of the United States. In one, Henry Ward Beecher is quoted in a speech as saying, "Abraham Lincoln may be a great deal less testy and willful (sic) than Andrew Jackson, but in the long race, I do not know that he will be equal to him." The reporter then writes, "The storm of applause that followed this seemed as if it would never cease."

Why would he carry such a clipping? If we know anything about Lincoln, we know that humility was one of his most attractive virtues. I can't imagine that he read from the article during political discussions or entertained dinner guests with its keen insight.

I do not know the answer to these questions. But I am aware that Abraham Lincoln suffered from bouts of serious depression. Could it be that in those "dark nights of the soul," when despair settled over his mind like a cold and heavy snow, that he could reach into his pocket and find hope? Could it be that these words reminded him of what he had dedicated his life to, the good he had tried to do and the lives he had affected?

Francis of Assisi once said, "A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows." We are all collectors of sunbeams. We may have saved away letters and mementoes that warm our hearts and encourage us when we need a lift.

And we can all be radiators of sunbeams, too. A letter, card or note of sincere appreciation can drive away dark shadows like nothing else.
