QUESTION:
Hi Lena, I am 40 years old and my sex drive is almost
nill. I used to be quite aroused and excited by my
husband but the last couple of years have changed. I
love him as much as ever but just have no sex drive.
Can you help?
Ganell
ANSWER:
Thanks for the question Ganell,
You didn't give me a health background to draw from so I
will try and cover what could be happening and you will
have to play detective and figure out where you fit in
the scenario!
There are several reasons for a loss of sex drive. I can
speak of the experiences I have observed and/or
experienced and not as a doctor but as a retired medical
office nurse, which are;
1. Depression - This creates a depleted immune
system and endocrinal system which can produce a
reduction of the hormonal system's ability to produce
the necessary chemicals (testosterone/hormone) in the
body.
2. Perimenopause - Due to the lack of nutrients
in our foods and the fast and processed food intake
creating the body's inability for the female system to
function as it should therefore perimenopause is
occurring in women as early as the 30's quite often
these days. This brings about a thinning in the vaginal
lining making sex uncomfortable and not so enjoyable.
Decreases the testosterone level and throws the hormone
balance off. It brings about lethargy and so many mood
swings that your body is totally in shock and unable to
react to the past sexual stimuli. This is being
corrected naturally by many women with
Balance
Woman Master Formula, along with
Ionic Liquid Minerals also preventing hot flashes
and mood swings that comes with later menopause... (This
is what has helped my two daughters, my best friend and
myself as well as several other women I know.)
3. Stress - stress is a killer of the body's
ability to balance out suppressing the brains ability to
make the proper chemicals needed for the whole body to
work as it should and makes for all kinds of problems,
of which loss of libido is one of the many. Dr. Garland
has found a great stress killer in his Master Formula
Tolerance the true calming host of herbs and this
combined with
Ionic Liquid Minerals have proven to be great
balancers. When stress cannot be avoided Tolerance
Antianxiety formula helps the body to destroy the
free-radicals (illness creators) produced from stress
therefore preventing all kinds of health problems... If
the libido problem has been going on for quite sometime
you may also need Balanced Woman to bring the hormones
back into balance as they should be...
4. Mineral and Vitamin Imbalance - This is
getting to be a common occurrence in both men and
women's loss of libido. The foods we eat simply
do not have
the minerals needed to make it possible for our body
to absorb the other nutrients in our foods. An imbalance
of minerals creates an out of balance vitamin content
creating a severe depressed state of the body's adrenal
system... For this simply taking a
total 84 mineral base will create balance and
detoxing of the body...
5. Lack of Sunshine and Exercise - not getting at
least 15 or 20 minutes of sunlight a day along with a
sedentary lifestyle (not getting enough exercise) has
proven to throw the adrenal glands so out of balance the
body goes into various organ failure that will
eventually end up in a one or more illness, which may
first appear with the loss of libido in both men and
women...
6. A combination of all of the above - Since I
don't know your diet, exercise, illness or lifestyle I
cannot say definitely which of the above or if all of
the above applies to your situation. When we do not get
sufficient exercise and sunlight stress is felt more by
the body, which causes the adrenal glands to go into
failure...
7. Antidepressants - Such as Prozac,
Wellbutrin (even though it is advertised as the one that
doesn't depress the libido their literature says that it
can.), Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft,
Elavil, Tofranil, Aventyl, Pamelor
and others. These medications are sometimes given for
other purposes so you may unknowningly be taking a
libido killer. These all suppress the adrenal glands
thereby preventing the production of the necessary
hormones and/or testosterone... These should not be
stopped cold turkey if they have been consumed for
several months or years, but Dr. Garland and I can help
with that if this is the cause of your problem... All
you have to do is ask...
8. Blood Pressure medications - A large portion
of BP medications will kill the libido. There are
natural blood pressure alternatives that can get BP
under control without killing the sex drive.
9. Statin (cholesterol reducing) drugs - Also can
kill the sex drive. These are killers of the whole body
and should not be taken, as they are just now releasing
the horrible side effects with the most horrific one
being death by heart attack. Since cholesterol is not
the culprit that the drug companies made it to be
(lining their pocket books) these are not necessary for
anyone to take!
10. Heart medications - A large portion of heart
medications also kill the sex drive. These will require
a doctors help in changing... This is a whole other
story and one that Dr. Garland is addressing almost
daily anymore...
I don't know which area you fit into but I hope this
gives you some insight as well as answers to correcting
it.
Sincerely,
Lena

ECHOES OF KIND WORDS
A little boy said to his father, "Let's play darts.
I'll throw the darts and you say, `Wonderful!'"
Here is a boy who was not afraid to ask for the
encouragement he needs. Maybe we all have something to
learn from him!
Inspirational author and educator, Fr. Brian Cavanaugh,
relates a story about the devastating effects of
discouragement. Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the famous 19th
Century poet and artist, was once approached by an
elderly man who asked him to look at a few of his
sketches and drawings. The gentleman wanted to know if
the artist thought they were of any value.
As gently as possible, Rossetti told the man that the
sketches were of no value and showed little talent. He
apologized for the harsh assessment but said that he
believed he should be honest.
The visitor was disappointed but asked the artist if he
could take a look at just a few more, which were all
done by a young art student. Rossetti looked over the
second batch of sketches and immediately became
enthusiastic over the talent they revealed. "These," he
said, "oh, these are good." He went on to say that the
young student shows much promise and should be given
every help and encouragement, as he may have a great
future if he will study and work hard.
The old man was deeply moved. Rossetti asked, "Who is
this fine, young artist? Your son?"
"No," replied the visitor sadly. "It is I - forty years
ago. If only I had heard your praise then. For you see,
I became discouraged and gave up too soon."
Mother Teresa wisely said, "Kind words can be short and
easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."
Sometimes it may be enough to just say, "Wonderful!"

FOOD OF THE WEEK
=================
The
Fruit That Played A Role In Knights Of Old!
As my husband handed me the healthy gold fruit, from our
tree, I knew what the following food of the week column
was going to be about?
These sweet juicy yellow, green and sometimes a musty
brown fruit with a rounded shape that becomes narrower
towards the stalk and has kind of a grainy texture that
turns some people off. Pears offer a healthy
snack as well as a healthy ingredient in many recipes.
Full of natural nutritious fiber!
Pear History is interesting in that pears date back to
the early Asian history!
Pears are one of the world's oldest cultivated and
beloved fruits. In 5,000 B.C., Feng Li, a Chinese
diplomat became consumed by grafting peaches, almonds,
persimmons, pears and apples as a commercial venture. In
The Odyssey, the Greek poet laureate Homer lauds pears
as a "gift of the gods." Pomona, goddess of fruit, was a
cherished member of the Roman Pantheon and Roman farmers
documented extensive pear growing and grafting
techniques. Thanks to their versatility and long storage
life, pears were a valuable and much-desired commodity
among the trading routes of the ancient world. Evident
in the works of Renaissance Masters, pears have long
been an elegant still-life muse for artists. In the 17th
century a great flourishing of modern pear variety
cultivation began taking place in Europe. And in popular
culture, the pear tree was immortalized alongside a
partridge in the 18th-century Christmas carol, The
Twelve Days of Christmas.
Early colonists brought the first pear trees to
America's eastern settlements where they thrived until
crop blights proved too severe to sustain widespread
cultivation. Fortunately, the pear trees brought west to
Oregon and Washington by pioneers in the 1800's thrived
in the unique agricultural conditions found in the
Pacific Northwest. Today's Northwest pear varieties are
the same or similar to those first cultivated in France
and Belgium where they were prized for their delicate
flavor, buttery texture, and long storage life.
Pears are picked when they are almost ripe. The fruit
will come off if you lift the fruit vertically, signally
time to pick. Pears ripen best at room temperature. If
you want too keep them a few days you have to keep them
in a dark cool place. There's no need to peel a pear...
their tender, edible skin is an additional and
nutritional source of fiber. A medium sized pear
provides 4 grams of fiber, or 16% of the recommended
daily value. Always wash all fresh fruits and vegetables
before serving.
More levulose - the sweetest of known natural sugars -
is found in fresh pears than any other fruit, which
doesn't really sound like it's good for dieting. Well,
levulose is easily digested and plays a role in
energizing the metabolism thereby helping to bring about
weight loss. The pear is rich in the minerals;
Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium - 30%
more than an apple - , Sodium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese
and Selenium Not short changed in the vitamin department
either containing; Vitamin C, B-6, B-12, A, E, Rhiamin,
Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Folate and Folic
acid.
There are many varieties of pears to choose from and
should hit just about any desire!

meats.
