QUESTION:

My son will be 26 years old next month.  He was just diagnosed with diabetes.  His father is diabetic.  He is vegetarian how can I help him.

Shirley

ANSWER:

Hi Shirley and thank you for your question.

You don't say if they have Type I or Type II diabetes? There is a difference in how you treat each one, but only slightly so here is the protocol that I have found that is working in reversing the majority of both types. There will possibly be occasional changes to fit each of your guys should they choose to follow a natural alternative and looking for reversal of the disease...

Below is a regimen that has given many diabetics the title of ex-diabetic...If he/they choose to go with our diabetic protocol, and have severe blood sugar swings prior to starting, please have him/them check in every other day with blood sugar numbers until we can establish a safe fluctuation (fasting blood sugar first thing in the morning, 2 hours after breakfast, 2 hours after lunch and a BS just before bedtime.) along with a weight log to determine if he/they need to lose weight as well. That enables us to adjust his herbs and minerals as needed...

The number one cause of diabetes in the 21st century is processed foods, mineral imbalance and lack of nutrients in our foods all making for obesity resulting in diabetes! When followed this plan WORKS EVERY TIME! Of course we cannot claim that this formula Reverses Diabetes and Repairs Diabetic damage but see what others have to say about it... One Who Thinks It Does!
Become an adventurer to life and health! Richard's Story Click Here

It is imperative to do the Cleansing Diet and follow it closely the first week....Then go to the other diet at the end of that week...

The protocol:

1 Life Transfusion Ionic Liquid Minerals are an absolute necessity, 30 to 40 drops in the morning and 30 to 40 drops at noon or up to 4PM, in 4 to 6 ounces of juice... (V8 juice, carrot, cranberry, lemon, or other juice.) Spread out in three doses is best. These can be found at diabetics_repair_kit.htm and save some money.

2) 9 capsules of Diab-B Blood Formula every day, If on insulin or pills take 3 capsules 15 to 20 minute before each meal, if not on insulin 2 capsules before meals)

3) Circulatory Support  - A necessity to the heart to work to heal the pancreas... Take 9 capsules daily, (3 with breakfast, lunch and dinner.) At the end of a month most decrease to 2 or 3 capsules twice a day.

4) Rapid Burn Fat Burner - Burns fat and helps balance insulin? 2 capsules before breakfast and lunch.

5) PROTEIN PLUS CHROMEMATE capsules ? This is a necessity to helping heal the pancreas 2 to 3 capsules 3X a day with meals... Insulin dependant will require 3 to 4 capsules 3X a day with meals...

6) Exercise, a must for best results: 45 minutes of brisk walking each day is the best form. Most cannot start with 45 minutes, but start even if you can only do 5 minutes then add 1 minute a day until you can work up to 45 minutes.

7) Diabetes Friendly diet for the overweight person or not overweight will work as well. Diet below!

8) Not absolutely necessary but an added bonus of Three dry saunas a week also work wonders--it burns off surface sugar in the skin and gets rid of toxins from the body helping to heal organs faster.

9) Drink lots of clean purified/filtered water. (Not distilled) If you do not have a filter, find one at a very reasonable price that has been tested and proven to remove 99% of contaminates and chemicals at water_purification_filtration_units.htm

THE LIFESTYLE DIET REGIMEN:

*Salads (no iceberg lettuce, it doesn't have the same nutritional value of deep, green lettuce like green romaine, red leaf, etc.)

*Choose from a variety of Cucumbers, Bean Sprouts, Carrots, Celery, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Snow Peas, Parsley, Alfalfa Sprouts are really good.

*Look for greenhouse or vine ripened tomatoes.

*Shop organic where possible to avoid pesticides and other harmful chemicals.

*Use Barlean's Flax Seed Oil from the health food store with lemon as salad dressing.

*Make your food simple, no fancy sauces.

*Allowable - A piece of chemical/drug-free grilled chicken, turkey or fish with salad and vegetables for instance.

*Spice up your meals with crushed garlic, shallots, onions and herbs.

*Eliminate all milk from cows. No cheese. No ice cream. Switch to soy milk instead and soy butter and soy ice cream. (Virgin Olive oil put into the refrigerator to harden makes a great butter substitute.) The VitaSoy brand is the very best.

*At least one meal a day should be a low-glycemic protein smoothie shake with soy milk or rice milk and one tablespoon of essential fatty acids like "Udo's Choice" brand with each meal to increase fat burn and assimilation of protein. (The essential fatty acids also keep you from getting too hungry and keep the blood sugar more stable.)
*One or two meals a week can be 1/2 cup brown rice steamed with vegetable broth and spices and steamed veggies. Drizzle the liquid essential acids from the Barlean's over the rice and veggies.
*Make herb teas and purified water (not distilled water--purified water) your drinks of choice with fresh lemon squeezed into them.
*Veggie omelets made with egg whites and soy cheese on occasion. Remember, NO DAIRY, you are not a cow!
*Avoid all food that is white -- these are poison and bleached with chlorine. NO WHITE SUGAR AND NO WHITE FLOUR. (That does not mean substitute aspartame or other chemical sweeteners, Stevia works great and is natural!)
*Rice and bread crackers the first 30 days to get your blood sugar normalized.
*Eliminate all fried food --How did Colonel Sanders die?
*Avoid all pork, bacon, ham, sausages, deli meats and pepperoni, they are laced with nitrates and MSG.
*Ask questions of your food--become a toxin Sherlock Holmes.
*Avoid people who try to get you to eat foods that will harm you. They are not your friends. You are the example, not the victim -- make this an adventure in discovering yourself and how you tick.

* No Aspartame sugar-free foods or drinks!

[Dr. H.J. Roberts States; People were telling us at the Conference of the American College of Physicians, that they had relatives that switched from saccharin to an aspartame product and how that relative had eventually gone into a coma. Their physicians could not get the blood sugar levels under control. Thus, the patients suffered acute memory loss and eventually coma and death.]

Splenda doesn't seem to be the answer either - See Lena's research on it at is_splenda_as_splendid.htm

*IMPORTANT PART OF PROGRAM Exercise for 30-45 minutes every single day -- people who eat right and exercise live far longer.

*ONGOING CONSULTATION We are available to counsel and assist with the program. Our time is free, there is no charge, except for the formulas you purchase. This is our present to you and all those who suffer needlessly as part of our mission to help heal the world. email or call Lena for follow up or to get started on the protocol 928-636-9425

THE MOST IMPORTANT TRIP YOU MAY EVER TAKE

It is accurately said that it is easy to be an angel when nobody ruffles your feathers. But it seems that feather rufflers will always be around.

We're told that 19th Century German statesman Prince Otto von Bismarck once became so incensed at the criticism of a professor (he must have ruffled the prince's feathers), that he challenged him to a duel. Protocol had it that the one challenged was to have the choice of weapons.

The professor made his choice...sausages! He sent word to Bismarck, along with a pair of sausages, that one sausage was safe to eat. The other had been poisoned with trichinae, which would cause a slow and lingering death, or at least long invalidism. He informed the prince that he should choose which sausage to eat and said he would eat the other one.

Bismarck reasoned that a man might die with some sort of honor on a dueling field, but never by food poisoning. He sent the message back, "His highness has destroyed the sausages and asks that you be his guest at dinner this evening. After due consideration he feels he may have been slightly in error. He believes an agreement can be reached."

One of the most important trips a person ever takes is "to meet someone halfway." Bismarck met his adversary halfway and chose to bring something useful from his conflict.

When others ruffle our feathers, we always have a choice. We can meet them on the dueling field, where one will clearly win and the other will lose, or we can meet them halfway. Even armed only with words, we can seek to hurt or we can seek a solution.

The choice we make will make all the difference.

The Sweet n' Sour Of Health!Ruby Red Grapefruit

This great golden yellow to orange fruit is coming into season in Southern California and a time I always looked forward to when I lived there. There is nothing so tasty as fresh fruits or vegetables right off the tree, bush or vine!!!

A large citrus fruit related to the orange, lemon and pomelo. Grapefruits are categorized as white, pink or ruby. However, this terminology doesn't reflect their skin color, which is either yellow or pinkish-yellow, but simply describes the color inside. Grapefruits usually range in diameter from four to six inches, with some varieties featuring seeds while others are seedless. The wonderful flavor of a grapefruit is like paradise, just as its Latin name Citrus paradisi connotes. It is juicy, tart and tangy with an underlying sweetness that weaves throughout.

History of grapefruit

Grapefruits have a rather recent history, having been discovered in Barbados in the 18th century. Many botanists think the grapefruit was actually the result of a natural cross breeding which occurred between the orange and the pomelo, a citrus fruit that was brought from Indonesia to Barbados in the 17th century.

The resulting fruit was given the name “grapefruit” in 1814 in Jamaica, a name which reflects the way it's arranged when it grows – hanging in clusters just like grapes.

Grapefruit trees were planted in Florida in the early 19th century, although they did not become a viable commercial crop until later that century. Florida is still a major producer of grapefruits, as is California, Arizona and Texas. Other countries that produce grapefruits commercially include Israel, South Africa and Brazil.

The National Cancer Institute placed grapefruit on their list of cancer preventative foods. Low in calories and actually known to trigger weight loss.

An excellent source of vitamin C, that helps to support the immune system. Vitamin C-rich foods like grapefruit are known to help reduce cold symptoms or severity of cold symptoms; Numerous scientific studies have found vitamin C to be a cold-fighter. Also shown to prevent free radical damage that triggers the inflammatory processes, and reduces severity of inflammatory conditions, such as asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Vitamin C is beneficial to promoting cardiovascular health. Owing to the multitude of vitamin C's health benefits, it is not surprising that research has shown that consumption of vegetables and fruits high in this nutrient is associated with a reduced risk of death from all causes including heart disease, stroke and cancer.

Also an excellent source of Vitamin A the healthy skin nutrient!

Grapefruit may be the less favored citrus choice when compared to the sweeter orange, but grapefruit sparkles with health promoting compounds that are known to help:

* fight cold symptoms
* prevent certain forms of cancer
* prevent heart disease

New research presented August 2004 at the 228th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society provides two more reasons to drink grapefruit juice: protection against lung and colon cancer.

Nutrients in grapefruit are; Vitamin A & C, Lycopene, Limonoids and Pectin,

In humans, drinking three 6-ounce glasses of grapefruit juice a day was shown to reduce the activity of an enzyme that activates cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. In rats whose colons were injected with carcinogens, grapefruit and its isolated active compounds (apigenin, hesperidin, limonin, naringin, naringenin, nobiletin) not only increased the death of cancer cells, but also increases the production of normal colon cells. Researchers also confirmed that grapefruit may help prevent weight gain by lowering insulin levels.

Lycopene; the rich pink and red colors of grapefruit are due to lycopene, a carotenoid phytochemical. Lycopene appears to have anti-tumor activity. Among the common dietary carotenoids, lycopene has the highest capacity to help fight oxygen free radicals, which are compounds that can damage cells.

Limonoids; phytochemicals in grapefruit called limonoids inhibit tumor formation by promoting the formation of glutathione-S-transferase, a detoxifying enzyme. This enzyme sparks a reaction in the liver that helps to make toxic compounds more water soluble for excretion from the body. Pulp of citrus fruits like grapefruit contain glucarates, compounds which may help prevent breast cancer.

Pectin; a form of soluble fiber that forms a gel-like substance in the intestinal tract that can trap fats like cholesterol. In animal studies, grapefruit pectin inhibited the formation of atherosclerosis. Animals fed a high-cholesterol diet plus grapefruit pectin had 24% narrowing of their arteries, while animals fed only the high-cholesterol diet had 45% narrowing.

Prevent Kidney Stones; reduce your risk of calcium oxalate kidney stones. Drink grapefruit juice. A study published in the August 2003 issue of the British Journal of Nutrition found that when women drank ˝ to 1 litre of grapefruit, apple or orange juice daily, their urinary pH value and citric acid excretion increased, significantly dropping their risk of forming calcium oxalate stones.(October 4, 2003)

Protection against Macular Degeneration; Data reported in a study published in the June 2004 issue of the Archives of Opthamology indicates that eating 3 or more servings of fruit per day may lower your risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the primary cause of vision loss in older adults, by 36%, compared to persons who consume less than 1.5 servings of fruit daily.

In this study, which involved 77,562 women and 40,866 men, researchers evaluated the effect of study participants' consumption of fruits; vegetables; the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E; and carotenoids on the development of early AMD or neovascular AMD, a more severe form of the illness associated with vision loss. Food intake information was collected periodically for up to 18 years for women and 12 years for men. Fruit intake was definitely protective against the severe form of this AMD vision-destroying disease. Three servings of fruit may sound like a lot to eat each day, but grapefruit can help you reach this goal. Try starting your day with a half grapefruit, add grapefruit sections to your green salads, or for an elegant dessert, spread a little honey over a half grapefruit and broil for 1-2 minutes.(July 10, 2004)

How to Select and Store Grapefruit!

A good grapefruit doesn’t have to be perfect in color. Skin discoloration, scratches or scales may affect the appearance of a grapefruit, but they do not impact the taste quality. Signs of decay include an overly soft spot at the stem end of the fruit and areas that appear watersoaked. These form of decay usually does translate into poor taste; a flavor that is less vibrant and more bitter than a good quality grapefruit.

The grapefruit should be heavy for its size as this usually indicates thin skins and therefore a higher concentration of juicier flesh. Those that have overly rough or wrinkled skin usually tend to be thick skinned with less meat inside, a dryer taste and not as flavorful.

Grapefruits should be firm, yet slightly springy when gentle pressure is applied. While chilled grapefruits do not have an apparent fragrance, those kept at room temperature should have a subtly sweet aroma. Grapefruits can be purchased throughout the year although the height of the season ranges from winter through early spring.

Since grapefruits are more juicy when they're slightly warm rather than cool, store them at room temperature if you are planning on consuming them within a week of purchase. If you will not be using them within this time period, store them in the refrigerator crisper where they will keep fresh for two to three weeks.

The next time you eat a sweet, juicy grapefruit know that you will also be consuming a variety of nutrients you may not have realized. These nutrients are called phytochemicals. They are found naturally in grapefruit and many have been linked to the prevention of certain cancers. One of these phytochemicals is called lycopene. Some animal studies have shown lycopene to reduce the risk of prostate, breast, cervical and colon cancer. Studies by Dr. Steve Clinton at the Harvard School of Public Health have shown that when lycopene is found in high concentrations in the human prostate it significantly reduces the risk of prostate cancer.

I have no recipe here as we eat fresh grapefruit peeled in citrus fruit salad or as a breakfast fruit or snack. You can find canned grapefruit sections that are quite tasty. Use your imagination and enjoy grapefruit for your health!

Lena
