I
answer all health questions to the best of my ability
using what I gleaned from 20-years as a Medical Office
Nurse and Administrator along with my education in
nutritional and alternative modes. I am not a doctor and
you should not think of me as one.
Just lived many years while observing the life and
health of many in the world around me...
Q & A is for your information and education only and in
some instances to give you a different perspective on a
particular problem!
My wish for you, in the use of the information gained
here, is that you will apply it in a smart and safe
manner in order to enhance your life and not harm it!
Not to be used in place of your judgment but in
addition to... Even though I daily watch people become
healthy with the information imparted nothing works 100%
of the time for 100% of people...
I have always felt that I had to know all sides to a
problem and then make a decision for myself and I hope
that will be your attitude as well!

QUESTION:
You have been so helpful to my questions in the past and
I thank you.
My question today is: Have you heard of Xango? what do
you have to report on it's fantastic claims?
Thank you
Shaila
ANSWER:
Thank you Shaila for the question.
Yes, I have heard of Xango, aka Mangosteen! You are the
second person in two days who has asked me the same
question? The other person was actually trying to
recruit me into their MLM program for selling Xango
disguised as a question, which happens frequently...
I wrote about this a couple of years ago but people
continue to ask about it one or twice a month and even
try to recruit me to be a dealer for it... So I feel I
again need to touch on it...
Xango Ingredients listed on the Xango company site:
Reconstituted garcinia mangostana juice from whole
fruit, apple juice concentrate, pear juice concentrate,
grape juice concentrate, pear puree, blueberry juice
concentrate, raspberry juice concentrate, strawberry
juice concentrate, cranberry juice concentrate, cherry
juice concentrate, citric acid, natural flavor, pectin,
xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate. No
amounts listed. Nothing outstanding there, but all are
concentrates do not say if they are from frozen
concentrates or fresh but I will bet it's frozen! Not
outstanding either. They advertise Xango as all natural
pure juice and "No additives," but citric acid, xanthan
gum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate are all
additives?
While it has a lot of good things that will be good for
you it isn't the end-all be-all that they claim it to
be. Yes it is good for you; just as any other
concentrated mixed fruit juice is good for you. You
would do just as well and a lot less expensive to use
your juicer and juice several fresh or frozen fruits or
buy a bunch of concentrated frozen juices and mix them
yourself without adding water and you will get the same
benefits and take by spoonfuls as they suggest with
Xango... If you are going to use this it would be a
great idea to add 20 drops of
liquid minerals to each glass of juice twice a day
and then it will be a complete and total health drink.
Sure fruit is healthy but the claims these people make
cannot be verified and should not be considered a
medicine. Since our foods no longer contain the
nutrients our body requires to stay healthy and the
majority of people are not supplementing what is needed
to be healthy, this
concentration of juices will help with some of those
requirements, just not all... I wouldn't pay the kind of
money Xango/mangosteen sells for when I can make the
equivalent for
much less cost... Of course I already supplement daily
and would not get the same results as a person who does
not take daily supplements...
Their claims are:
Antioxidant protection against free radicals
Maintains immune system health
Promotes joint flexibility
Provides positive mental support
Reduces allergies
Reduces joint inflammation
Prevents cancer
Just about any vegetable or fruit can make the same
claim - noted in my weekly food column - but don't
usually... Eat a large bowl of mixed fresh fruit or
mixed greens salad daily and get the same benefits!
Better still take the correct nutrient supplements for
maximum protection!
When I looked into the countries; Cambodia, China,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand,
Vietnam and South Africa where the mangostana/mangosteen
supposedly originates and grows in back yards and is
supposed to be so healthy, I found nothing in their
university agriculture extensions that says anything
outstanding about the fruit except that the skin does
contain some healthy properties, without elaborating
what they are totally, but also says; extreme amounts of
Tannic Acid, which can be dangerous to those allergic to
tannic (people with hay fever and seasonal allergies
are usually allergic to tannic), making it
uncomfortable at best or dangerous at worst for that
person. I don't think the skin would be very tasty by
itself either. They also found two xanthones in the
fruit skin, but that is also found in a myriad of fruits
and vegetables, so nothing new or unusual there? It does
have some other rather unusual properties such as; "Mangosteen
yields a fatty oil, a concrete oil of mangosteen called
kokum butter, used in soap-making. It is well adapted
for pharmaceutical preparations and candle-making."
It did not elaborate on the pharmaceutical preparations
they refer to. Is it oils, lotions, potents? I don't
know and they didn't say...
I did
find some warning from the different agriculture
university extensions to be aware of unfounded and
unproven claims made from consuming the mangosteen fruit.
I wouldn't put a lot of stake in those warnings had they
come from a pharmaceutical industry but these are
university agriculture extensions in those countries so
I tend to give them a bit more credit for telling us
truths..
I couldn't even find nutritional contents or amounts
anywhere but I did find out there have been no Clinical
Trials, which I don't find a problem as there are a lot
of great natural medications/supplements without clinical trials as
required by drug companies and FDA. But I also couldn't
find any Observational Studies or Case Reports
other than those on the MLM selling sites. Found No
Traditional and Folk Use or historical data, no Adverse
Effects & Toxicity Records, No methods of preparations,
no folk methods, no formulas, all leading me to
believe this is a trend that someone dreamed up simply
to make money!
It's a great way of making money if you can convince
people it's the best health product around. And there
are a lot of gullible people as well as people who had
bad nutrient intake prior to drinking this juice and
will see benefits? Good yes, but great, NO! They have a
good MLM system in place for making money but as total
health medication as they claim... It isn't... Yes it
has some good antioxidants in it but it's missing some
just as most foods do. Anytime something processed sits
it loses nutrients whether in a bottle or open... Since
Xango comes from concentrates you can bet it has lost a
huge number of it's health properties before even
getting into the bottles or pills and even more while
sitting on shelves waiting to be consumed...
A really smart money maker dreamed up the whole unique
Xango scheme to sell the fruit juice as a total health
builder. While it is good it isn't a TOTAL ANYTHING
except A
TOTALLY OVERPRICED juice mixture that anyone can make at
home, providing you have access to mangosteen fruit.
Mango is a good substitute if you want to go that route,
for a tenth of the price... I'll bet the perpetrator of
this business is banking on selling it in the United
States and European countries simply because the
Mangosteen fruit cannot be purchased there, due to the
stringent import restrictions those countries have put
on the fruit itself... Great way of getting around the
import restrictions is in selling this overpriced juice... The little country of Tonga even
forbids sale of this product in their country, but
doesn't say why?
You asked my opinion and there it is... Save your money!
Take your

liquid Minerals and trace minerals,
Meganutrient vitamins, eat a healthy diet and you
will have the same results!

MOTIVATOR

LIVING FROM YOUR HEART
Confucius said, "To practice five things under all
circumstances constitutes perfect virtue; these five are gravity,
generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness." Sincerity and
earnestness are vital components of character. Part of it is to simply
say what you mean and mean what you say!
"I adore you," the young man said to his girl. "I need you; I can't live
without you; I love you."
She pushed him aside saying, "John ... I don't want to get serious."
John replied, "Who's serious?"
Like Tennessee Williams might say, he had all the sincerity of a bird
hunter's whistle. Saying what you mean and meaning what you say is
vital, but there is another important part to living a genuine and whole
life: that is to LIVE what you say. Make your actions and your words the
same. Living what you say is at the heart of sincerity.
Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong was a superb jazz musician who also knew how
to entertain. Satchmo used to say that what he played was life. He
believed that his whole life, soul and spirit was to blow that horn.
When he made music, it came from his heart. And it spoke to our hearts.
Any life can be great when it is lived fully and sincerely from the
heart.
Let your whole life, your whole soul and your whole spirit sing in
harmony. It is a matter of saying what you live and living what you say.
For when your words harmonize with your actions, you are living from the
best part you -- from your heart. And the sincerity of your life will
forever touch the hearts of others.
