Avoiding Listeria Hysteria and/or Other Infections

CDC is telling us that we may not see the brunt of this outbreak for another month. So if you fit any of the following criteria you can still avoid becoming a Listeria victim if you do a few simply natural preparations! It has been years since Listeria hysteria hit America and that was with cheeses not fruit and veggies? So why now?

How are you susceptible to listeria illness?

* Have irregular bowel movements, less than after each meal
* Have chronic constipation; or very hard bowel movements most of the time.
* Have IBS, Crohn’s or other digestive disorders.
* Have frequent colds or viruses.
* Take prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs frequently or within the last few months.
* Have had chemotherapy or antibiotics in the last six months without rebuilding your immune system.
* Eat mostly prepackaged foods (mac 'n cheese, frozen dinners, etc.); fast foods (McDonald’s, Burger King etc.) several times a week.
* Eat little to no fresh or steamed vegetables daily.
* Never see sunlight touch the skin or your body.
* Use sun screens daily
 

Why does that put you at risk?  

The immune system is the fighter system keeping you healthy but if weak will let you become ill. That requires a healthy digestive tract to be and/or stay healthy! Why?
 
Unless your digestive tract is balanced in digestive enzymes and natural intestinal flora (good bacteria) and acidity, 70% to 80% of your immune system is weak or dead and unable to keep you from getting sick with whatever bacteria, virus or fungus comes into your space!
 

How does that happen? 

Bad diet listed above as well as additives to our foods creating a health risk to our stomach and/or intestinal systems. Even if you could eat all the raw foods your body requires, the sad truth is that conventional grown foods no longer contain enough healthy enzymes and mineral nutrients as they once did. This is caused by soil depletions due and chemicals added during farming and as well as commercial preservation techniques, making proper digestion impossible in one who eats them and toxins back up and created polluted intestines.  

The polluted intestines then become blocked and are unable to absorb what few nutrients are put into them. This happens with so few nutrients in raw foods and/or processed prepackaged foods!
 
BUT my real pet peeve is the fast food industry because they put out foods with no nutrients and convince you that you can be healthy if you eat them! In centuries past these problems did not exist because those fast and processed foods and synthetic additives did not exist.
 
On top of all those issues add prescribed or over-the-counter drugs being consumed creating severe malnourishment... 

The intestines are your blocking force to illness and disease!

Your body houses this unique balanced ecosystem beginning with the stomach then miles of large and small intestine in charge of distributing the nutrients to nourish your bodily organs. Residing in that ecosystem is billions of more than 400 species of bacteria. These good bacterial colonies function in harmony with one another and if either is out of balance your system is going to go awry. 

There are three main types of friendly bacteria: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifido-bacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus bulgaricus. Acidophilus works in the small intestine. Bifidus predominates in the large intestine and bulgaricus is a transient bacterium that passes through the entire intestinal tract. These bacteria exist outside the body as well but not in the ordinary places you would expect. These bacterium are vital to your health and if you have added to your ecosystem an antibiotic, anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, advil, aspirin, motrin, aleve, etc.) or chlorinated products ingested or bathed in, you have killed both friendly and unfriendly bacteria… If you eat prepackaged, processed, fast, excessive fatty or sugary foods weekly you have set up and unbalanced ecosystem and severely weakened your immune system! 

In addition to antibiotics you are being bombarded with food additives, chlorinated water and some medications that can upset the balance of bodily flora. Hormonal drugs such as birth control pills and cortisone are especially detrimental to the body's ecosystem. Even if you are not taking drugs you are most like getting them without your knowledge!  

One way of balancing out the ecosystem in your body is with Digestive Enzymes for the stomach and Probiotics (good bacteria), which improve liver and circulatory functions, provide resistance to allergies and decrease the presence of yeast infections. Probiotics along with healthful foods enhance and restore the good bacteria. Small amounts of good bacteria are found in foods like yogurt and fermented foods. Larger amounts are found in probiotic supplements found in your local health food store or in a lesser balanced Acidophilus Milk in the dairy case. Most commercial products in the grocer or pharmacy have sit on the shelves so long they have lost most of their strength so expect to have to take quadruple the recommendations on the container.
 
If you have encountered any of the aforementioned and/or antibiotics, chlorinated water (chlorine by products exist in over-the-counter bottled water as well), drink or bath in municipal tap water, hormones, birth control pills, cortisone or anti-inflammatories you need to get your ecosystem back into balance now before other systems start to break down.

You say, "but I'm not ill." No, you may not feel as if you are now but if you frequently catch colds, have fever blisters, vaginal or rectal itching, dry skin, allergies, don't eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruits, sleep less than 7 hours a night you are well on your way to becoming ill with whatever bacteria, virus or fungus that comes into your space! 

To balance your immune system talk to your local health food store nutritionists to get the proper digestive enzymes and probiotics for you.
