Water & What Should Be In it

You read that right - pneumonia caused by most popular drugs! The drugs in question belong to two classes frequently used to treat heartburn or stomach ulcers: proton pump inhibitors (PPI's), which include drugs like Nexium, Prevacid and Prilosec aka PPI's.; and H2-receptor blockers, such as Pepcid and Zantac.

As of February 2011, the FDA put out a warning of a severe magnesium depletion when taking these PPI's. Magnesium deficiency is nothing to sneeze at as it is linked to critical health problems, including muscle spasms, convulsions, and severe heart problems--congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, even sudden cardiac death, to name just a few. Studies found that people on either PPI's or H2 blockers were about one-quarter more likely than non-users to develop pneumonia. In the U.S. alone, people spent $27 billion on these medications in 2005 and make that billions of dollars spent on them in 2009. Yet it appears that more is being spent in treating pneumonia due to that specific side effect!

Some studies have found a connection between the heartburn drugs and a heightened risk of pneumonia. One theory is that by curbing stomach acid, the medications allow ingested bacteria that would otherwise be killed to instead survive and thrive and getting into the lungs.

For instance;
2,400+ people, that we know about, have developed osteonecrosis of the jaw, an incurable condition where the jaw bone actually dies and crumbles...many are suing the drug companies but not a good alternative when your jaw doesn't work! In response, one of the drug companies issued a press release saying that these cases, "do not necessarily indicate causality." I like that "necessarily" gives them an out if people aren't into medical jargon... Click for some of those terms > pharmaceutical jargon again!

Sadly that is not the only life threatening side effect to these drugs along with many others!

DIURETICS
for high blood pressure wash potassium, magnesium, sodium, zinc and vitamin B2 right out of your body along with the water. Even more alarming is the report From the National Cancer Institute in November 1998 states that, "diuretics also increase the risk of kidney cancer," as found by the researchers that conducted the studies.
HRT - ESTROGEN REPLACEMENT DRUGS, such as Premarin, can leave you deficient in all the B complex, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc.
ANTACIDS steal vitamins A and B1, folic acid, calcium, copper, iron and phosphorus from your tissues.
ANTIBIOTICS deplete numerous vitamins mainly B2, C, D, niacin, folic acid, biotin and multiple minerals - calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES (NSAIDS) stops the production of good prostaglandins, which promote healing of the joints and cartilage.  Without those prostaglandins doing their job it causes further damage to your joints and muscles
CHOLESTEROL lowering drugs wash out the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy as it washes out the cholesterol. It deplete numerous vitamins --B2, C, D, niacin, folic acid, biotin and minerals---calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, etc.
Bone medications are creating far more problems than they are eliminating! Read bone and joint drug induced problem facts!

Other Known Medication Problems are:
1.Taking Oral Contraceptives Can Result in a Deficiency of folate!
2. Antacids like Rolaids or Maalox can weaken bones by hindering their mineral uptake.  This requires larger doses of balanced minerals.
3. Drinking grapefruit juice with the antihistamine Allegra (fexofenadine) decreases its absorption!
4. Drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruit while taking blood-pressure-lowering drug Plendil (felodipine) increases its absorption and can and is create low blood pressure to the point of passing out or death!
5. Drinking cola drinks when taking an antibiotic sets up a chain reaction that doesn't show up until much later!
6. Aspirin taken on a regular basis especially for arthritis or a heart patient -- will deplete the body of iron and every aspirin ingested causes the stomach to bleed out a teaspoon of blood!
7. The antidepressant drug Prozac (fluoxetine) can decrease the appetite in some while increasing the appetite in others while depleting the system of many minerals and vitamins!
8. If you use a blood thinner drug such as Coumadin (warfarin), tell your doctor if you eat a lot of green leafy vegetables or take fish oil supplements as they can cause the blood thinner to over react! There is a healthier safer alternative!
9. Large doses of zinc can interfere with the absorption of minerals such as Iron, Copper and Calcium!

Did you get the point here? Your medications may be creating more illness for you and in most instances do not medicate the problem, only mask it and create more problems. Do some research and try natural treatments before going the side effect medication route! It is time to take charge of your health and stop letting inept drug industry control it! Proper eating, exercise, supplementing with minerals, vitamins and herbs can create a healthy body!
